Terms and refunds
Last updated 3 September 2026
JD Docket is a web application for organizing law school applications: which schools you are applying to, what each one requires, when it is due, and the drafts you are writing. By making an account or paying for a plan you agree to what is on this page. Our separate privacy page says what we do with your work.
What you are buying
The schools data is free to everyone, with or without an account. There are two paid plans:
- Track, $10 a month or $60 a year: a list of schools, merged checklists, the season timeline, the essay overlap matrix, and next-step guidance. Track begins with a 14-day free trial, no card needed. When the trial ends without a subscription, your list, check-offs, and notes are kept but Today, the timeline, the essay matrix, and the list close until you subscribe. Nothing is deleted.
- Write, $25 a month or $150 a year: everything in Track plus the Writing desk — drafts filed by essay type, named versions, and AI feedback on your own drafts.
A paid plan starts the moment payment goes through, and a Track trial the moment you begin it. There is nothing to ship and nothing to wait for.
Billing and renewal
Plans renew automatically — monthly plans every month, annual plans every year — until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Billing section of your account. Cancelling stops the next charge, and you keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. When a Track plan ends — cancelled, or a payment that fails — your list, check-offs, and notes are kept but Today, the timeline, the essay matrix, and the list close until you subscribe again. Nothing is deleted. A lapsed Write subscriber can still open, read, and copy every draft: essays are your work.
Prices are in US dollars. If we change a price, the new price applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it does.
Payments are processed by Stripe through Clerk. We never see or store your card number.
Refunds
Within 14 days of your first payment on a plan, we refund it in full, for any reason or none. That covers the first monthly or annual charge on Track or Write, and the first charge after moving from Track up to Write. Email support@jddocket.com from the address on your account and say you would like a refund. We do not ask why.
After those 14 days, cancelling stops future charges but does not refund the current period, and annual plans are not refunded pro rata. The annual price is discounted precisely because it is a commitment to the whole cycle.
Billing mistakes are always refunded: a duplicate charge, a charge after you cancelled, or a charge at the wrong price. Refunds go back to the card that was charged and usually appear within five to ten business days, depending on the bank.
What the app is, and is not
- We are not affiliated with LSAC, with the ABA, or with any law school, and we submit nothing on your behalf.
- Deadlines and requirements come from each school’s own admissions pages, with the date each was checked shown beside it. Schools change things. Always confirm against the school before you submit; we are not responsible for a deadline missed on the strength of a figure here.
- Where the app shows Reach, Target, or Likely, it is reporting where your numbers fall against percentiles a school published. It is not a prediction of your odds and not advice about where to apply.
- The AI feedback in the Writing desk reads your draft and points at things. It does not write, rewrite, or complete essays, and it is built so it cannot. What you submit to a school is your own work.
- Nothing on this site is legal advice.
Your account and your work
Your drafts are yours. We claim no rights in anything you write here, and we use it only to run the app for you. One account is for one applicant; please do not share a login or resell access. Please do not scrape the schools data — it is free to read, and we would rather talk than block.
You can delete your account by emailing us. If an account is used to abuse the service or other people, we may close it, and we will refund any unused portion of a paid period when we do.
Changes and disputes
If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. If something goes wrong, write to us first; nearly everything is fixable by email.
