What it costs, how graduates fare

Tuition2025-26

$50,320 full-time · plus $2,700 annual fees

$37,740 part-time

Living expenses $20,731 on campus

Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

Bar passageclass of 2025

68.0%first-time−9.4

77.4% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 51 of 75 first-time takers passed

83.5% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

47 of 84 (56.0%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 4 more in JD-advantage jobs · 12 still seeking

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

6.0% of the first-year class · 6 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

$105,518 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays

  • Personal statementRequired · 1000 wstart by Feb 22, 2027

The purpose of the personal statement is to allow the Admissions Committee to assess your writing ability and learn more about you. Applicants must submit a statement that discusses their interest in law school and what they hope to do with their legal education in the future.

    Notes & source

A REAL CEILING: 'This statement should not exceed 1,000 words.' 'Should not exceed' is a ceiling phrase under docs/CURATION.md, so word_limit 1000 with no judgment call. THE PROMPT IS COMPULSORY AND TWO-PART: 'Applicants must submit a statement that discusses their interest in law school and what they hope to do with their legal education in the future' -- present motivation and future intent, both required. Note it is interest in law school generally, not in WNE, so no why_x_essay is recorded; a general statement written for other schools will usually answer this. THE SCHOOL SAYS WHAT IT IS READING FOR, and writing comes first: the statement exists 'to allow the Admissions Committee to assess your writing ability and learn more about you'. That reading is reinforced in the recommendation guidance, which asks recommenders to speak to an applicant's 'ability to write clearly and persuasively'.

  • Perspective statementOptionalstart by Mar 1, 2027
    Notes & source

Offered among WNE's optional essays and given its own description: 'Applicants may also submit a diversity statement, explaining to the Admissions Committee what background, experience, and perspective they will bring to the classroom experience at the School of Law.' Recorded as a perspective_statement because that is what the type covers under docs/DATA.md ('the post-2023 successor to diversity statements at many schools; naming varies'), and WNE is one of the schools that has kept the older name. Recorded as its own entry rather than folded into the optional-essay note because it is reusable across schools, which is exactly what the overlap detection is for. No length or format is published for it. NOTE WHAT THE APPLICATION FORM DOES NOT DO WITH DEMOGRAPHIC DATA, which the school states plainly on the same page: 'the application form collects data regarding gender identity, citizenship status, and race and ethnicity but this information will not be taken into consideration during the admissions process. This information will only be used for reporting purposes at the end of the admissions process.' So the form's checkboxes are excluded from review while an applicant's own account of background and perspective is invited -- worth understanding before deciding whether to write one.

  • Optional essayOptionalschool-specificstart by Mar 8, 2027
    Notes & source

'The application includes several optional essay questions. We encourage applicants to submit one or more optional addenda if they wish to convey additional information to the Admissions Committee. As provided in the specific prompts, the contents of optional addenda may include, for example, clarification of your educational record or obstacles you have overcome in the pursuit of higher education.' THE PROMPTS THEMSELVES LIVE INSIDE THE APPLICATION AND ARE NOT PUBLISHED -- 'As provided in the specific prompts' tells an applicant there is a menu they cannot see until they open the LSAC form, and the two examples given are illustrative rather than the list. No length or format is published for any of them. This entry carries the slot generally; the diversity statement is recorded separately as a perspective_statement, and the explanatory use is recorded as an addendum, because those two are the named uses with distinct planning consequences. 'One or more' means the optional essays are not mutually exclusive.

  • AddendumOptionalstart by Mar 12, 2027
    Notes & source

TWO DISTINCT THINGS, AND ONE OF THEM IS MANDATORY WHEN TRIGGERED. The optional use: 'the contents of optional addenda may include, for example, clarification of your educational record or obstacles you have overcome in the pursuit of higher education.' THE CHARACTER-AND-FITNESS ADDENDUM IS REQUIRED ON ANY AFFIRMATIVE ANSWER, and WNE adds a piece of advice most schools omit -- recorded here because the taxonomy in docs/DATA.md has no character-and-fitness type: 'The application form includes a series of questions regarding character and fitness. Any applicant who answers one of the character and fitness questions on the application in the affirmative must include an addendum fully explaining their response, including any and all attendant circumstances. We recommend that applicants explain how they have grown or changed from this experience.' That last sentence is guidance about what to write rather than merely what to disclose, and it is worth acting on. NO LENGTH OR FORMAT is set for either use. The school also prints the standard bar warning, with an unusually direct framing: 'Admission to law school in no way guarantees admission to the bar in any state. State bar examiners will review all aspects of an applicant's history. Therefore, prior to enrolling, if an applicant has any concerns regarding state bar admission, they should contact the Board of Bar Examiners of the state(s) in which they might practice.' Required is false because both uses are conditional.

    Notes & source

'All applicants must submit a current résumé. The Admissions Committee does consider work experience and extra-curricular activities when assessing the application of each candidate.' Two content areas are named and the school states plainly that both are weighed. No page limit or format is published.

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Jan 14, 2027
    Notes & source

LSAT OR JD-NEXT, AND NO GRE -- an unusual combination. Most schools that open a second route open the GRE; WNE is one of the few in this dataset where JD-Next is a FULL substitute for the LSAT and the GRE is not accepted at all: 'All applicants are required to take the LSAT or JD-Next. Scores for both exams remain valid for five years.' The GRE is not mentioned anywhere on the J.D. admissions page, and the 2025 509 prints no GRE row -- 110 LSAT admissions enrollees and 5 JD-Next enrollees, together the class of 115. So both accepted routes are actually used. WHAT JD-NEXT IS, in the school's own words, which few schools bother to explain: 'JD-Next is an eight-week asynchronous course that culminates in a four-hour exam. It is designed to help students develop the essential reading and analysis skills necessary to excel in law school. If taking JD-Next, please contact jd.next@aspenpublishing.com to arrange sending your score report.' THE TWO ROUTES HAVE DIFFERENT CUTOFFS AND THE JD-NEXT ONE IS TIGHTER: the last accepted LSAT is the June 2027 administration, while 'The last JD-Next report that we will accept will be for the April 29-May 1, 2027 window' -- two months earlier, and an eight-week course has to finish before that. NO MINIMUM SCORE and no policy on multiple scores is published -- neither a highest-score nor an averaging rule -- which is a gap. Waitlisted applicants may retake either test and have the new score added: 'If you retake the LSAT or JD Next exam, please reach out to let the admissions team know.'

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Feb 22, 2027
    Notes & source

'You will also be required to register with the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) through LSAC. Through CAS, you will submit all postsecondary transcripts for review. The Admissions Committee considers undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate studies as part of their review of your application. Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree at the time of matriculation to the JD program.' The degree is required at matriculation rather than at application. INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH TESTING IS ENCOURAGED BUT NOT REQUIRED, AND THERE IS NO FLOOR -- unusually permissive: 'Applicants who have completed their secondary education in a language other than English are encouraged, but not required, to submit official score reports for either TOEFL or IELTS exams. Please note that we do not have a minimum required score.' APPLICANTS WHO HAVE ATTENDED LAW SCHOOL BEFORE face a longer list, including an addendum that must address two things: all the ordinary materials, a 'Letter of Standing from the Dean of the law school where you are currently attending or previously attended', 'Official transcripts from all law schools attended', and an 'Addendum explaining your decision to apply to WNE Law and, if applicable, the circumstances surrounding your dismissal.' Transfer credit is capped at 32 credits from an ABA-approved school and 29 from a state-accredited one. ONE CONDITION APPLIES TO THE WHOLE FILE AND IS WORTH READING BEFORE SUBMITTING: 'The School of Law's decision to admit an applicant is contingent upon the truthfulness of the information contained in their application, including material submitted on the applicant's behalf. Discovery of false information subsequent to admission is grounds for immediate dismissal at any point in the applicant's course of study. Such dismissal shall result in forfeiture of all charges paid and academic credits earned.'

  • Letter of recommendation (1 of 2)Requiredstart by Feb 15, 2027
    Notes & source

'All applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from academic or professional contacts. We will accept a maximum of four letters of recommendation. If you are a current student or recent graduate, at least one letter should come from a faculty member.' Both numbers published, with an academic requirement scoped to recent students. WHAT MAKES A GOOD LETTER, AND WHICH AUTHORS ARE RULED OUT -- the second sentence names a category most schools leave unsaid: 'We recommend that applicants seek out contacts who know them well and can speak on their intellectual and professional attributes, ability to reason, and ability to write clearly and persuasively. Unless they are familiar with your professional or academic abilities, recommendations from family, friends, or politicians are not helpful.' A letter from a politician is a specific enough example to suggest the school has received them. DELIVERY IS EITHER WAY, with an extra step on the direct route: 'Letters of recommendation may be submitted through LSAC's Letter of Recommendation service (included with your CAS registration). Alternatively, letters may be submitted directly from the recommender to the Office of Admissions. If submitted directly, please include the following form.' Additional letters up to the cap of four may be added after a waitlist decision.

  • InterviewOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

WNE DOES NOT INTERVIEW, denied flatly and without exception -- the kind of explicit denial docs/CURATION.md asks to be recorded rather than left to silence: 'Please note that we do not conduct interviews as part of the admissions process. However, prospective students are invited to contact the Office of Admissions and schedule a visit for informational purposes.' What is offered instead is expressly informational rather than evaluative. This is the third unhedged denial in this batch, alongside Touro and NIU; Charleston's is hedged by comparison.

  • Application feeOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

NO APPLICATION FEE, AND THE WAIVER IS DATED TO THIS CYCLE: 'Please note that WNE Law has waived the application fee for all 2027 applicants.' The 2025 509 certifies 'Application fee 0', so the waiver was in force for the reported year too. Recorded at required false -- but as at Touro, the wording is scoped to a cycle rather than stated as policy, so it is worth rechecking rather than treating as settled. WNE ALSO POINTS AT LSAC'S OWN WAIVERS, which is the larger cost and which most schools leave unmentioned: 'LSAT or CAS fee waivers are available for students.' No eligibility criteria or process is published here; those are LSAC's.
