What it costs, how graduates fare
- Tuition2025-26
$72,792 full-time · plus $892 annual fees
Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

- Bar passageclass of 2025
89.6%first-time+6.2
83.4% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 242 of 270 first-time takers passed
96.0% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating
A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

- Employmentclass of 2025
257 of 273 (94.1%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

- First-year attrition2024-25
2.0% of the first-year class · 4 students
No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

- EarningsCollege Scorecard
Not a starting salary.
$87,690 median one year after finishing · $141,243 after four
$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential
A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

- Personal statementOptional · 3 pgstart by Dec 10, 2026
Notes & source
Not strictly required — the 2026-27 Bulletin says that 'while not required, for strongest consideration' applicants may submit a personal statement of no more than three pages. In practice treat it as expected. The JD application page FAQ adds what the committee looks for: authenticity and your genuine voice; why you want to go to law school (the experiences or goals behind the decision); and why you'll succeed as a law student, shown through specific examples of qualities like critical thinking, resilience, or work ethic.

- LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Nov 1, 2026
Notes & source
Applicants must provide 'a valid and reliable admission test (LSAT, GRE, or JD-Next) score as required by the American Bar Association' and must hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university. WashU Law accepts all three tests — it holds an ABA variance to use JD-Next (its fall 2025 class enrolled 249 on the LSAT, 3 on the GRE, and 1 on JD-Next, per its 509 report). No published policy on score validity windows was found on the school's pages.

By invitation only. Per the 2026-27 Bulletin: 'After a written application has been submitted, applicants may be invited to a virtual interview to further discuss their background and goals with a member of the admissions team.' The school's Applying Yourself podcast episode on Early Decision (law.washu.edu/news/podcast/early-decision/, undated) says every Early Decision applicant was interviewed that cycle; current-cycle ED interview policy could not be separately verified.
