What it costs, how graduates fare

Bar passageclass of 2025

79.7%first-time−2.9

82.5% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 98 of 123 first-time takers passed

92.1% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

Employmentclass of 2025

86 of 120 (71.7%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 6 more in JD-advantage jobs · 11 still seeking

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

First-year attrition2024-25

4.0% of the first-year class · 5 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

Not a starting salary.

$101,120 after four

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

  • Personal statementRequiredstart by Feb 22, 2027

Required, listed in the school's 'A complete application includes' checklist and again among its evaluation criteria. NO PROMPT, NO LENGTH, NO PAGE COUNT AND NO FORMAT IS PUBLISHED anywhere on the admissions, apply or character-and-fitness pages, all of which were fetched. The nearest thing to guidance is an invitation rather than a question: 'Applicants are encouraged to provide information that helps the Admissions Committee understand their preparation, goals and interest in the profession.' THE STATEMENT IS READ AS A WRITING SAMPLE: the holistic-review description lists 'writing samples' among what is evaluated -- 'We evaluate academic history, standardized test scores, writing samples, recommendations, work experience and other relevant factors to assess readiness for legal study.' What the school says it is selecting for is stated once and broadly: 'The College of Law seeks applicants who demonstrate the potential to become effective members of the legal profession.' NO WHY-UNT QUESTION is asked, and no perspective statement or optional essay is published, so those types are omitted rather than recorded as absent.

  • AddendumOptionalstart by Mar 12, 2027
    Notes & source

AN OPEN SLOT WITH NO TOPIC RESTRICTION, listed as the last item in the complete-application checklist: 'Any additional information the applicant wishes to provide', echoed in the evaluation criteria as 'Additional information offered by the applicant'. No prompt, length or format is published. CHARACTER AND FITNESS GETS ITS OWN PAGE, and UNT Dallas is one of the few schools in this dataset to publish the actual questions in advance -- recorded here because the taxonomy in docs/DATA.md has no character-and-fitness type. The school explains why its questions look the way they do: 'As part of the process of determining an applicant's character and fitness, the Texas Board of Law Examiners will review an applicant's law school application to determine whether the applicant has disclosed all criminal charges or convictions, disciplinary actions, academic suspensions, or other matters pertaining to the applicant's character and fitness to practice law. The application for UNT Dallas College of Law therefore contains several character and fitness questions that are similar to the questions that Texas Board of Law Examiners asks on the Declaration of Intent to Study Law, a document that all law students who apply for admission to the Texas Bar must file.' The published questions reach further than most -- academic probation and suspension, and discipline of any kind by any institution of higher learning including 'a letter or other written notice', with withdrawal-to-avoid-discipline expressly covered 'whether or not the record of such action was retained in your file'. The general standard is stated first: 'All states require that in addition to passing a bar examination, a person be of good moral character and fitness in order to be eligible for admission to the bar. Most boards of law examiners are concerned mainly with the existence of a criminal record, disciplinary or honor code violations, dishonesty, financial irresponsibility.' Required is false because the obligation is conditional on the answers given.

Letters & documents

  • RésuméRequiredstart by Mar 8, 2027
    Notes & source

Required -- 'Current resume' in the complete-application checklist, and 'Resume' again in the list of what the committee evaluates. No page limit, format or content guidance is published. Note that 'Work experience and leadership' is named as its own evaluation criterion separately from the résumé, which is the only signal about what the document is read for.

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Jan 14, 2027
    Notes & source

LSAT ONLY: the complete-application checklist lists 'LSAT score' with no alternative, and the criteria list says 'Standardized test scores' without naming a second test. NO GRE AND NO JD-NEXT ROUTE is mentioned anywhere on these pages, and the 2025 509 prints a single LSAT row covering all 130 first-years with no GRE or JD-Next row. Under docs/CURATION.md the site's silence is not itself a denial, but the filing shows no alternative in use. NO MINIMUM SCORE, STATED TWICE AND WITH A REASON: 'UNT Dallas College of Law does not set a minimum LSAT score', and 'The College of Law does not set a minimum LSAT score. All submitted materials are reviewed in context to assess readiness for the study of law and potential for success in the profession.' Read that against this school's numbers with care -- it admitted 456 of 1,883 completed applications, the most selective rate in this batch, so the absence of a floor is not an absence of competition. NO VALIDITY WINDOW AND NO POLICY ON MULTIPLE SCORES is published -- neither a highest-score nor an averaging rule -- which are real gaps.

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Feb 22, 2027
    Notes & source

A degree is a condition of eligibility: 'Eligibility for admission to the J.D. program requires a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.' CAS is required -- 'LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report' heads the complete-application checklist -- and LSAC is the only route: 'All applicants must apply through Law School Admission Council (LSAC).' No minimum GPA is published and no major is preferred; 'Academic record' is the first item on the evaluation list. THAT IS THE WHOLE OF WHAT IS PUBLISHED. No instruction about which institutions must send transcripts, no final-transcript deadline, no LSAC school code, and no international credential-evaluation policy appears on the admissions, apply or character-and-fitness pages. Those are genuine gaps rather than omissions in this file's research.

  • Letter of recommendationRequiredstart by Feb 15, 2027
    Notes & source

Required, and listed twice -- in the complete-application checklist and among the evaluation criteria -- but NO NUMBER IS PUBLISHED IN EITHER PLACE, neither a minimum nor a maximum, so no count_required or count_accepted is recorded rather than inferring one. That is a real gap: the plural is the only guidance, so an applicant should assume at least two and email lawadmissions@untdallas.edu to confirm. No guidance is given about who should write -- no category of recommender is preferred and none is ruled out -- and nothing is said about delivery beyond everything going through LSAC.

Administrative

  • Application feeOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

NO APPLICATION FEE, stated by the school and certified in the filing -- one of the few in this batch where both sources say so explicitly: 'UNT Dallas College of Law does not charge an application fee.' The 2025 509 agrees with 'Application fee $0'. No waiver process is published, which follows from there being nothing to waive; LSAC's own CAS and report fees are separate and UNT Dallas does not address them. The free application fits the school's stated purpose -- it describes itself as 'Dallas' public law school, offering affordable, practice-ready legal education that expands access to the profession', with a 'Mission-driven commitment to strengthening the legal profession' and 'Affordable tuition with a focus on expanding access'. Note the 509 certifies tuition per credit rather than annually, so the annual rows read $0.
