What it costs, how graduates fare

Tuition2025-26

$61,000 full-time · plus $1,150 annual fees

Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

Bar passageclass of 2025

67.9%first-time−19.2

87.1% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 95 of 140 first-time takers passed

82.8% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

Employmentclass of 2025

109 of 145 (75.2%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 6 more in JD-advantage jobs · 11 still seeking

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

First-year attrition2024-25

8.0% of the first-year class · 19 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays

  • Personal statementRequiredstart by Apr 10, 2027
    Notes & source

Required, and Touro is unusually explicit about where it ranks: 'Next to the LSAT/GRE and/or GPA, the personal statement is weighed most heavily in the admissions process. It should be written with great care and should address candidly the strengths and weaknesses of an applicant's candidacy.' THAT INSTRUCTION IS RARER THAN IT LOOKS -- most schools invite an applicant to make a case, and route weaknesses to an optional addendum. Touro asks for both inside the statement, and publishes no separate addendum slot at all, so this is the only published home for an explanation of a low grade or score. NO LENGTH, PAGE COUNT OR FORMAT IS PUBLISHED anywhere on the admissions, J.D. or FAQ pages. THE STATEMENT IS READ AS A WRITING SAMPLE alongside the test essay: the admissions criteria list 'Writing ability (as demonstrated by the quality of the Personal Statement and LSAT/GRE Writing Sample/s)', so the LSAT or GRE writing section is read here rather than ignored. WHAT ELSE THE COMMITTEE WEIGHS, from the same list: 'Personal qualities of integrity and commitment to public service' and 'Professional experience and achievement after college, where applicable.' NO WHY-TOURO QUESTION is asked, and no perspective statement or optional essay is published, so those types are omitted rather than recorded as absent.

Letters & documents

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Mar 2, 2027
    Notes & source

EITHER TEST, WITH A ONE-WAY RULE THAT REACHES INTENT AS WELL AS HISTORY: 'Yes, we do [accept the GRE]. However, GRE may not be submitted in lieu of the LSAT if an applicant has already taken or plans to take the LSAT. GRE takers must designate Touro to receive all reportable scores from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Our GRE Designated Institution (DI) Code is 3223.' Like Western State, the bar covers an LSAT an applicant merely PLANS to take -- so the GRE route is genuinely open only to someone who has decided against the LSAT altogether. All reportable GRE scores must go, not just the best. CAS IS REQUIRED EITHER WAY: 'Regardless of the standardized test taken, all applicants must participate in the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) provided by the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC).' ALL SCORES ARE CONSIDERED, AND TOURO DISCOURAGES A THIRD ATTEMPT IN SO MANY WORDS: 'All test scores are considered in evaluating the student's aptitude. Applicants whose first test score is not indicative of their potential should consider repeating the exam. However, they are strongly discouraged from taking the test more than twice.' That is a published position on retakes that most schools avoid taking, and it is worth reading before booking a third sitting. NO MINIMUM SCORE and no validity window is published -- both gaps. The 2025 509 shows the GRE route is small but real: 219 LSAT admissions enrollees against 4 GRE, with GRE percentiles withheld under the ABA's under-10 floor. No JD-Next row and no mention of JD-Next anywhere.

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Apr 10, 2027
    Notes & source

CAS is compulsory for every applicant regardless of test, and a complete CAS report is what starts the review: 'complete generally means receipt of the CAS Report and supporting documentation.' NO MAJOR IS REQUIRED BUT RIGOUR IS WEIGHED: 'The Admissions Committee does not require a specific major for entry into the program, but favors a curriculum that is rigorous in nature. Courses should be chosen which provide a broad base of knowledge and enhance logical and analytical reasoning skills. Competence in written expression is also weighed into the admission decision.' GRADUATE WORK CAN OUTWEIGH THE UNDERGRADUATE RECORD, WITH A CAVEAT THAT EXPLAINS WHY THE UGPA STILL MATTERS -- one of the clearest statements of this in the dataset: 'Graduate work can be an important factor in the admissions process. In some cases, it may be viewed as a more significant predictor of success than undergraduate work, especially when the applicant has been out of undergraduate school for several years. Note, however, that the ABA requires law schools to report only students' undergraduate GPA; consequently, the undergraduate GPA is always considered as part of the review process.' Read that as the school explaining the reporting incentive it operates under, which is unusually candid. No minimum GPA is published.

  • Letter of recommendationOptionalstart by Apr 3, 2027
    Notes & source

NOT REQUIRED, BUT PUSHED, AND WITH AN UNUSUALLY FRANK LIMIT ON WHAT THEY CAN DO: 'Letters of recommendation are strongly encouraged. Up to three letters may be submitted if the applicant chooses. Any letters received will be considered, although references alone cannot salvage an otherwise weak application. Letters should be sent through the Letter of Recommendation LSAC Service.' That last clause is worth quoting to anyone banking on a well-connected recommender. Recorded at count_required 0 and count_accepted 3. WHAT A GOOD LETTER ADDRESSES is set out in the admissions criteria: 'Letters of recommendation from persons with direct knowledge of the individual's intellectual ability, natural aptitude, and strength of character.' The emphasis is on direct knowledge rather than on the author's standing -- consistent with the warning above. This is the fourth school in this batch to make letters optional, after Cooley, Bowen and MC Law.

Administrative

  • InterviewOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

TOURO DOES NOT INTERVIEW, denied flatly and without exception -- the kind of explicit denial docs/CURATION.md asks to be recorded rather than left to silence: 'Does Touro Law conduct interviews as part of the application process? No. However, students are strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment to visit the Law Center; to meet with faculty, administrators, and students; to tour the facilities; and to sit in on class.' What is offered instead is explicitly non-evaluative, and the school makes it easy to arrange: 'Please contact the Office of Admissions at lawadmissions@touro.edu or call (631) 761-7010 to set up an appointment.' Students and alumni can also be put in touch on request. Note the contrast with Charleston, whose denial is hedged ('not part of the normal application process'); Touro's is not.

  • Application feeOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

A $60 FEE THAT IS CURRENTLY WAIVED, AND THE WAIVER IS TIME-BOUND ON THE SCHOOL'S OWN WORDS: 'We are waiving the application fee of $60.00 for this academic year.' The 2025 509 certifies 'Application fee 0', consistent with the waiver having been in force for the reported year too. Recorded at required false because no applicant pays today -- but the phrase 'for this academic year' is the school reserving the right to charge again, so this is one to recheck rather than treat as settled. No separate hardship or LSAC-based waiver process is published, which follows from the fee being waived for everyone. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AUTOMATIC AND NEARLY UNIVERSAL: 'All applicants are considered automatically for scholarships, and more than 95% of entering students receive awards.' Read that against the sticker price rather than as a discount on it -- the 509 certifies $61,000 in annual full-time tuition plus $1,150 in fees, the highest in this batch. Touro is also unusually direct about debt: 'even if you are not awarded a scholarship, a combination of federal and private loans should be adequate to cover all the expenses.'
