What it costs, how graduates fare

Tuition2025-26

$62,610 full-time · plus $1,436 annual fees

$46,958 part-time

Living expenses $34,706 on campus

Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

Bar passageclass of 2025

80.8%first-time−3.6

84.3% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 281 of 348 first-time takers passed

91.4% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

Employmentclass of 2025

273 of 358 (76.3%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 41 more in JD-advantage jobs · 17 still seeking

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

First-year attrition2024-25

5.0% of the first-year class · 19 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

Not a starting salary.

$69,917 median one year after finishing · $103,969 after four

$105,518 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays

  • Personal statementRequired · 3 pgstart by Nov 10, 2026

The applicant personal statement should address your motivation and preparation for the study of law; illustrate your proficiency in written, professional communications; and highlight any circumstances that you believe are relevant to the evaluation of your credentials.

    Notes & source

'The personal statement should be 2-3 pages in length, double-spaced, and in 12-point font.' page_limit records the top of that range; the bottom is also an expectation, so a one-page statement falls short of what Suffolk asked. Uploaded with the LSAC application rather than routed through CAS: 'Upload your personal statement (essay) as part of the LSAC application to Suffolk Law School.' Nothing is published about margins or generative AI. NOTE THE SECOND CLAUSE OF THE PROMPT — the statement is explicitly read as a writing sample ('illustrate your proficiency in written, professional communications'), not only as a narrative. NO OTHER ESSAY IS REQUIRED OF FIRST-YEAR JD APPLICANTS: Suffolk publishes no perspective or diversity statement, no why-school essay, and no optional essay prompt. The one additional essay named anywhere applies to a subgroup: 'Applicants for a dual degree must submit a second essay to be reviewed by the Graduate Admission Committee explaining your interest in the additional (non-JD) degree.' Addenda attach to this document rather than standing alone — see the addendum entry.

  • AddendumOptionalstart by Nov 28, 2026
    Notes & source

TWO TRIGGERS, AND BOTH ADDENDA ARE ATTACHED TO THE PERSONAL STATEMENT RATHER THAN FILED SEPARATELY — a formatting detail Suffolk states twice and most applicants would otherwise get wrong. (1) CHARACTER AND FITNESS, required when triggered: 'If you answer yes to any of the character and fitness questions, you must provide additional explanation in an addendum to the personal statement. The addendum should provide a clear and concise explanation of the circumstances and charges or actions against the applicant, including court dates and outcomes. Vague or general explanations may delay review by the Admission Committee.' Court dates and outcomes are specifically demanded, and vagueness carries a stated cost. (2) GAPS, required when applicable and easy to miss because the instruction sits inside the resume section: 'Any gaps in employment or education should be noted and explained in a separate addendum submitted with the personal statement,' expanded under the Addenda heading to 'Explanations regarding gaps in employment or educational history, including the circumstances behind attendance at multiple institutions, also should be submitted as addenda to the personal statement with clear headings separating them from the main body of the personal statement.' The clear-headings instruction is the operative formatting rule. NO GPA OR TEST-SCORE ADDENDUM IS INVITED anywhere on the site — recorded as a silence. Recorded as required: false because both triggers are conditional.

  • Letter of recommendation (1 of 2)Requiredstart by Nov 3, 2026
    Notes & source

'Submit at least two letters of recommendation (no more than three) through LSAC's Credential Assembly Service (CAS).' A THREE-YEAR RULE DECIDES WHO WRITES THEM: 'A recommendation should come from a college professor if you have graduated from college within the past three years. If you have been out of school longer than three years, your recommendation may come from a professional source. Letters of recommendation should never come from family member or friends.' ROUTING IS ABSOLUTE and stated twice on the page: 'Letters of recommendation must be sent through LSAC. Letters will not be accepted if sent directly to the Office of Law Admission.' The Binding Early Decision checklist lists 'At least two letters of recommendation' among the components that must be complete by December 1.

    Notes & source

'Applicants are required to submit an updated resume with their application. Upload your resume as part of the LSAC.org application to Suffolk Law School.' No page limit or format guidance is published, so none is recorded. ONE CONTENT REQUIREMENT IS ATTACHED TO IT and is genuinely a requirement rather than advice: 'Any gaps in employment or education should be noted and explained in a separate addendum submitted with the personal statement' — so the resume triggers a second document whenever it shows a gap. See the addendum entry.

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Nov 10, 2026
    Notes & source

CAS is required of everyone regardless of which test they take: 'All applicants must participate in the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) provided by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) regardless of which standardized test is being taken.' TRANSCRIPTS FROM EVERYTHING: 'You must submit transcripts for all collegiate, graduate and professional study... Official copies of transcripts for all collegiate, graduate and professional study by the applicant must be sent directly to LSAC from the college or graduate school.' Current students submit what they have: 'Applicants who are still attending an undergraduate institution should submit all transcripts up to the most recent semester completed.' DEGREE, framed as an ABA obligation rather than a Suffolk preference: 'All new students must provide a final transcript evidencing a bachelor's degree conferred. This is an ABA requirement.' INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS use the same first-year application — 'This includes those who have received, or who will receive, their undergraduate bachelors degree from a foreign institution by September 1 of their enrollment year' — with AACRAO evaluation through CAS and a flat refusal to accept documents directly: 'All documents from foreign institutions must be sent directly to LSAC by the issuing institution. No transcripts will be accepted by the Office of Law Admission.' NO TOEFL OR IELTS REQUIREMENT AND NO MINIMUM ENGLISH SCORE IS PUBLISHED — recorded as a silence. One visa constraint that bears on program choice: 'If you are seeking an F-1 or J-1 visa through Suffolk, you must attend the full-time (day) program; those visa categories require full time enrollment.' No minimum GPA is published.

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Oct 2, 2026
    Notes & source

THREE TESTS ACCEPTED — Suffolk is one of the few schools in this data set to put JD-Next on equal footing with the LSAT and GRE rather than treating it as a supplement: 'Applicants are required to take either the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), or the JD-Next Exam. If taking the GRE or JD-Next, you will need to tell the Educational Testing Service or Aspen Publishing to send your scores to Suffolk Law-code: 4343.' NO SCORE MAY BE HIDDEN, and the rule differs by route: LSAT scores arrive automatically ('Through this service, Suffolk Law will automatically receive reportable LSAT scores and will consider those results in its review process'); GRE and JD-Next takers must send everything ('Applicants who elect to take the GRE or the JD-Next exam instead of the LSAT must instruct the Educational Testing Service (ETS) or Aspen Publishing to send Suffolk Law all test scores from the prior five-year period'); and an LSAT, once taken, cannot be suppressed ('Applicants who take both the LSAT and another exam must report their LSAT score to Suffolk Law; they also have the option of submitting their other exam scores as part of their application'). TIMING GUIDANCE IS TEST-SPECIFIC: 'We recommend taking the LSAT no later than February to ensure you can complete your application before our April 1 priority deadline. We recommend taking the October-December JD-Next course and exam in order to ensure you can complete your application before our April 1 priority deadline. Applicants who take the April-June JD-Next course should plan on applying to law school for the following fall start date. However, we may consider the April-June course and exam for the same-year fall start date depending on a space-available basis.' For Binding Early Decision the LSAT cut-off is harder: 'for LSAT takers, the November LSAT is the latest session we consider.' No multiple-score policy (highest versus average) is published. Suffolk's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report shows all three routes in use: 532 LSAT admissions enrollees, 7 GRE enrollees, and 5 JD-NEXT enrollees out of 544 first-years — the GRE and JD-Next cohorts falling below the ABA's 10-test-taker floor, so no percentiles are published for either.

Administrative

  • Application feeRequiredat submission
    Notes & source

$60, confirmed by Suffolk's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report, which lists the application fee as 60. The amount is not stated on the apply page's checklist; it surfaces only in the deferral instructions, where a returning deferred applicant is told they need 'A new application through lsac.org (the $60 application fee is not required; you may request a fee waiver code from the Office of Law Admission).' A FEE WAIVER EXISTS but is thinly documented: the apply page carries a 'Fee Waiver' link in its sidebar, and the deferral passage above shows waiver codes are issued by the Office of Law Admission on request. No eligibility criteria, form, or deadline for a waiver is published on the pages fetched on 2026-08-18. Recorded as required: true because the fee is owed by default. LSAC's own CAS fee is separate and is explicitly the applicant's responsibility ('You must register for this service separately').

  • InterviewOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

Recorded as the site's silence, not as a statement that Suffolk does not interview. No Suffolk Law admissions page fetched on 2026-08-18 — the apply page with its full element-by-element breakdown, the dates and deadlines page, the Binding Early Decision page, or the 1L profile — mentions an admissions interview of any kind. The apply page enumerates every component of the application in its own section and no interview appears among them; the Binding Early Decision page lists the five items that make a file complete and no interview appears there either. The school offers campus visits separately, not described as part of the evaluation.
