What it costs, how graduates fare

Tuition2025-26

$56,521 full-time · plus $496 annual fees

$37,698 part-time

Living expenses $27,414 on campus

Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance. This school certifies a guaranteed-tuition programme.

Bar passageclass of 2025

84.9%first-time+8.6

76.3% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 241 of 284 first-time takers passed

92.2% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

233 of 287 (81.2%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 13 more in JD-advantage jobs · 10 still seeking

First-year attrition2024-25

2.0% of the first-year class · 8 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays

  • Personal statementRequired · 3 pgstart by Apr 10, 2027

The Personal Statement should address your reason for wishing to study law and earn the JD, which may include special accomplishments or qualifications pertinent to your application.

    Notes & source

'A concise, 2-3 page double-spaced format is preferred.' Preferred rather than required, so page_limit records the top of the stated range as guidance rather than a hard cap — an applicant should treat three pages as the ceiling. AN UNUSUAL FORMATTING REQUIREMENT that is easy to miss and easy to comply with: 'Please put your name and identification number (LSAC account number) at the top of each page.' Nothing is published about font, margins, or generative AI. A SEPARATE PROMPT APPLIES TO TRANSFER APPLICANTS AND FOREIGN ATTORNEYS: 'All transfer applicants must submit a Personal Statement that addresses their reason for wishing to transfer to Stetson Law.' NO OTHER ESSAY IS ASKED FOR — no perspective or diversity statement, no why-school essay, and no optional essay prompt appears anywhere. Stetson does, however, invite one specific disclosure inside the personal statement: 'Stetson Law invites applicants with disabilities to disclose any anticipated barriers concerning accessibility. Information you would like considered in the admissions process can be disclosed within the Personal Statement. Any accessibility information disclosed will remain confidential and will be considered only as directed by relevant law. Please note that this disclosure is voluntary and will not result in the adverse treatment.'

  • AddendumOptionalstart by Apr 28, 2027
    Notes & source

OPTIONAL, with two named triggers and no length limit: 'Candidates may also submit an addendum to explain unusual circumstances, such as grade fluctuations or wide variance in LSAT scores.' That single sentence is the whole of Stetson's addendum guidance. NO CHARACTER-AND-FITNESS ATTACHMENT IS REQUESTED anywhere on the admission-requirements page — the page carries the standard bar-admission notice ('In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction') and links the NCBE's Bar Admission Guide and a page on Character and Fitness Investigations, but never asks for an explanation document. Recorded as a silence rather than as an absence of any such question on the LSAC form. ONE DISCLOSURE THAT IS EASY TO UNDERESTIMATE sits in the resume section and is really an addendum obligation: 'Whether as part of the resume or within the application itself, applicants should list any and all employment (paid or unpaid) held since their 16th birthday or for the past 10 years, whichever is shorter. This will ensure consistency with the employment question on the Florida Bar application, the most common state in which Stetson graduates to practice.' An inconsistency between what is listed here and what is later listed on a bar application is exactly the kind of thing character-and-fitness review catches.

Letters & documents

  • Letter of recommendationRequiredstart by Apr 3, 2027
    Notes & source

'Please assign a minimum of one letter of recommendation; a maximum of three letters will be accepted. Please use the Letter of Recommendation Service provided by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC).' ONE IS ENOUGH — a low floor by the standards of this data set. On who should write, Stetson states a preference and then expressly disclaims any penalty for not meeting it, which few schools do: 'Academic references are encouraged; however, we recognize that many students have difficulty obtaining academic references and will not penalize candidates if one cannot be obtained.' Letters travel in the LSAC law school report.

  • RésuméOptionalstart by Apr 24, 2027
    Notes & source

NOT STRICTLY REQUIRED: 'Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a resume along with their personal statement and application.' Encouraged, not required — recorded as required: false on the school's own wording, though the encouragement is emphatic and an applicant should submit one. No page limit or format guidance is published. THE CONTENT RULE IS THE UNUSUAL PART, and it is a real obligation rather than advice: 'Whether as part of the resume or within the application itself, applicants should list any and all employment (paid or unpaid) held since their 16th birthday or for the past 10 years, whichever is shorter. This will ensure consistency with the employment question on the Florida Bar application, the most common state in which Stetson graduates to practice.' Unpaid work counts, and the reason given is future bar-application consistency rather than admissions evaluation.

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Apr 10, 2027
    Notes & source

'Official transcripts from all colleges or universities you attended, including undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools, must be sent to the Law School Admission Council (LSAC)'s JD Credential Assembly Service (CAS), regardless of whether you earned a degree from the institution.' The 'regardless of whether you earned a degree' clause reaches coursework applicants often omit. A SECOND OBLIGATION AFTER ADMISSION: 'Admitted students who choose to enroll at Stetson Law must submit final, official transcripts showing the award of their bachelor's degree to LSAC before enrolling.' DEGREE: 'As a prerequisite to enrollment, applicants are required to have earned a baccalaureate degree from a college or university that is accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education' — before enrolling, not before applying. No minimum GPA is published. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY, with published minimums and an explicit domestic carve-out: 'This requirement is waived for all domestic applicants.' For others, 'Applicants whose native language is not English must submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 100. TOEFL scores are valid for three years. Alternatively, fluency in English may also be established by scoring at least a 7 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS).' LSAC's TOEFL code is 8395.

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Mar 2, 2027
    Notes & source

THE LSAT IS THE RULE AND THE GRE IS A NARROW, RECENTLY OPENED EXCEPTION — Stetson's GRE criteria are the strictest in this data set, and the school dates the change precisely. 'All applicants are required to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and register with the Law School Admission Council (LSAC)'s JD Credential Assembly Service (CAS). LSAT scores are valid for admission purposes for five years from the test date to the intended enrollment date.' Then: 'Effective October 2025, the faculty approved an additional standardized testing option for applicants to the law school... The GRE is optional and may be used in place of the LSAT to complete the testing component of the application. GRE scores will be considered in a limited capacity as part of a holistic review process.' FOUR CONDITIONS, ALL OF WHICH MUST HOLD: 'Completion of a graduate degree / GRE taken within last five years / Performance in the top 10% of GRE test takers for GRE Writing / Performance in the top 10% of GRE test takers for GRE Verbal'. And the closing clauses: 'Applicants who do not meet the above criteria are not eligible to apply with GRE scores. If a reportable LSAT score exists, the Admissions Committee will not consider or accept a GRE score.' So the GRE route is open only to graduate-degree holders who score in the top decile on two sections and have never taken the LSAT. GRE DI code 6283. MULTIPLE LSAT SCORES: 'Stetson Law uses your highest LSAT score, not an average of all scores, for admission.' Wide score variance may be explained in an addendum — see the addendum entry. Stetson's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report reports all 336 first-year enrollees as LSAT admissions enrollees, with no GRE row and no JD Next row — expected, since the GRE option only took effect in October 2025, after that class had enrolled. Its effect will first appear in a later filing.

Administrative

  • Application feeRequiredat submission
    Notes & source

'A $55 nonrefundable application fee must be paid online through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) when you submit your application.' Stetson's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report independently lists the application fee as $55.00. NO FEE-WAIVER PROCESS IS PUBLISHED anywhere on the admission-requirements or apply pages — recorded as a silence, not as a refusal. Recorded as required: true because the fee is owed by every applicant with no published route to avoid it, and is payable at submission rather than later. LSAC's own CAS and Letter of Recommendation Service fees are separate.

  • InterviewOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

NOT ROUTINE, INVITE-ONLY, AND EXPRESSLY NOT REQUESTABLE — Stetson gives this its own numbered section, which makes it one of the clearest statements on the subject in this data set: 'Stetson Law's Office of Admissions and Student Financial Planning does not routinely conduct personal interviews for the JD program. However, we may, on occasion, request that an applicant participates in a meeting with a member of the faculty or administration. Applicants may not request to interview but are encouraged to visit Stetson Law for a campus tour, attend a class, and meet with an admissions counselor to learn more about Stetson Law and the admissions process.' Three things follow: an interview may happen, only the school may initiate it, and it may be with faculty rather than admissions staff. A campus visit or a meeting with an admissions counsellor is explicitly offered as the alternative and is not part of the evaluation.
