What it costs, how graduates fare

Tuition2025-26

$11,338 full-time · plus $7,494 annual fees

$10,484 part-time

Living expenses $32,262 on campus

Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

Bar passageclass of 2025

68.1%first-time−12.1

80.2% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 96 of 141 first-time takers passed

59.5% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

Employmentclass of 2025

93 of 231 (40.3%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 15 more in JD-advantage jobs · 64 still seeking

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

First-year attrition2024-25

11.0% of the first-year class · 34 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

Not a starting salary.

$51,071 median one year after finishing · $67,462 after four

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

SULC PUBLISHES NO ADDENDUM SLOT, NO CHARACTER-AND-FITNESS QUESTION SET AND -- UNUSUALLY -- NOT EVEN THE STANDARD ABA BAR-ADMISSION WARNING that nearly every other school in this dataset prints. The how-to-apply and admission-procedures pages were both fetched in full; neither mentions character, fitness, disclosure or the National Conference of Bar Examiners. This entry records that absence rather than a requirement. AND NO PERSONAL STATEMENT OR RESUME REQUIREMENT IS PUBLISHED EITHER, which is the more consequential silence. SULC's list of 'information and materials [that] must be filed with the Law Center Admission office' runs: formal application, application fee, official transcripts, the LSAT, CAS, confirmation, immunization and seat deposit. A personal statement appears nowhere on either page. Under docs/CURATION.md those types are omitted rather than recorded as required or absent -- the school has made no claim either way, and it would be wrong to assert that SULC wants no personal statement when every ABA school's LSAC application carries attachment slots and most such lists are simply incomplete. AN APPLICANT SHOULD EXPECT THE LSAC FORM TO ASK FOR MATERIALS THIS FILE CANNOT LIST, and should call the Admission and Recruitment Department (1-800-537-1135 out of state, 1-800-552-5106 in state) before assuming otherwise. This is the same shape as Faulkner in this batch, though SULC's pages are otherwise detailed rather than unfinished.

Letters & documents

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Mar 2, 2027
    Notes & source

LSAT ONLY, REQUIRED OF EVERYONE: 'All applicants are required to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) prior to admission.' NO GRE AND NO JD-NEXT ROUTE is mentioned anywhere on the how-to-apply or admission-procedures pages, and the 2025 509 prints a single LSAT row covering all 300 first-years with no GRE or JD-Next row. Under docs/CURATION.md the site's silence is not itself a denial, but 'All applicants are required' is affirmative and the filing shows no alternative in use. THE WRITING SAMPLE IS A COMPLETENESS GATE, stated more bluntly than at almost any school in this dataset: 'Any application that does not contain a writing sample will be deemed incomplete and will not be processed until a writing sample is submitted.' LSAT Writing is administered separately from the test itself, so this is a real and common failure point -- and at a school whose deadline language is 'will not be processed', an incomplete file at May 1 is not a delay. NO MINIMUM SCORE, NO VALIDITY WINDOW AND NO POLICY ON MULTIPLE SCORES is published -- all three are genuine gaps. SULC describes the test's logistics at length ('The examination is administered nine times a year at designated centers throughout the United States') without describing how it reads the result.

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Apr 10, 2027
    Notes & source

CAS IS REQUIRED AND SULC SPECIFIES THE SUBSCRIPTION LENGTH, which few schools do: 'The Southern University Law Center requires the 12-month subscription service with LSDAS.' (LSDAS is LSAC's former name for what is now CAS; the page has not been updated.) 'Fees for these services may vary from year to year.' TRANSCRIPTS GO TO LSAC AND MUST BE TOPPED UP: 'Transcripts showing credits earned at a college or university must be forwarded to www.LSAC.org. If courses of study in a college or university are taken after the application is submitted, official supplemental transcripts must be submitted to cover the subsequent study.' A final degree-conferred transcript goes direct to the school: 'If you completed and received your undergraduate degree or any post-graduate courses after submitting your application, please send a final official transcript indicating the conferring of the degree and the completion of such courses directly to SULC as soon as it is available.' THE DEGREE TRANSCRIPT GATES REGISTRATION, NOT MERELY MATRICULATION: 'First year students will not be permitted to register for the fall semester without producing an official transcript showing degree(s) earned before enrolling in the Law Center.' TRANSFER APPLICANTS need four things: 'all of the general documentation described above; a letter from the dean of the ABA-approved law school previously attended certifying academic good standing and completion of the required first year curriculum; an official transcript from the law school previously attended; and a letter of recommendation from a law professor.'

  • Letter of recommendationRequiredstart by Apr 3, 2027
    Notes & source

Required, and named twice -- in the how-to-apply steps ('don't forget to gather your transcripts and request your letters of recommendation') and in the filing instruction ('Applications, together with current official transcripts and letters of recommendation, should be filed before the end of the fall semester of the year prior to admission'). NO NUMBER IS PUBLISHED -- neither a minimum nor a maximum -- so no count_required or count_accepted is recorded rather than inferring one, and no guidance is given about who should write. The plural is the only signal, so an applicant should assume at least two and call the Admission and Recruitment Department to confirm. That is the same gap as at UNT Dallas, UDC and St. Thomas in this batch. Delivery is through CAS. Note that transfer applicants DO get a specified letter -- 'a letter of recommendation from a law professor' -- so the school is capable of naming a requirement and has not done so for first-year applicants. LETTERS ARE PART OF THE MAY 1 COMPLETENESS OBLIGATION: 'The applicant is responsible for submission of supporting documents to the LSAC on or before the deadline of May 1st.'

Administrative

  • Application feeRequiredat submission
    Notes & source

A $75 NON-REFUNDABLE FEE, THE HIGHEST IN THIS BATCH, and stated in both places: 'Submit your electronic application to SULC (with a $75 non-refundable fee)', and 'Application Fee: A $75 non-refundable application fee will be required of all persons seeking admission.' The 2025 509 certifies the same figure. Note 'all persons seeking admission' -- the school leaves no category out. NO WAIVER PROCESS IS PUBLISHED, neither a hardship route nor LSAC-waiver reciprocity, which is a real gap at the highest fee in this batch and at a public law school whose certified resident tuition is $11,338. Compare UDC and both Widener schools, which charge similar fees but waive them for applicants who file by a published date. THE FIRST MONEY AFTER THAT IS THE DEPOSIT: 'Applicants who have been accepted for admission must pay a $200 seat deposit to secure a seat in the incoming first-year class. The seat deposit amount is subject to change and is non-refundable.' A separate condition applies before registration: 'An applicant accepted for admission must submit proof of immunization to the Law Center prior to registration in accordance with Louisiana Revised Statute 17:170.'
