What it costs, how graduates fare
- Tuition2025-26
$55,260 full-time · plus $930 annual fees
$40,320 part-time
Living expenses $26,112 on campus
Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

- Bar passageclass of 2025
89.1%first-time+3.5
85.6% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 147 of 165 first-time takers passed
95.5% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating
A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

- Employmentclass of 2025
148 of 169 (87.6%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission
Ten months after graduation · 10 more in JD-advantage jobs · 5 still seeking
The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

- First-year attrition2024-25
3.0% of the first-year class · 5 students
No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

- EarningsCollege Scorecard
Not a starting salary.
$71,391 median one year after finishing · $93,029 after four
$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential
A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

- Personal statementRequired · 2 pgstart by Jan 11, 2027
The Personal Statement is a way for applicants to communicate information about themselves that is not found in the rest of the application. The Personal Statement provides the Admissions Committee with insight into the applicant's writing ability and individual character. Information regarding personal or professional goals, academic performance, and career history is helpful. The Admissions Committee looks for brevity and clarity of thought and expression. Please limit the Personal Statement to two pages.
Notes & source
Required; the same text appears verbatim on the school's J.D. program page (slu.edu/law/academics/law-jd.php) and in the SLU academic catalog. No formatting rules (font, spacing, margins) and no word limit are published, and the pages say nothing about generative AI. The personal statement is one of the factors the committee weighs: 'The Admissions Committee considers several factors in determining a candidate's eligibility: academic achievement, strength of the undergraduate program, application information, LSAT results (the Admissions Committee looks only at the applicant's highest score), personal statement, work experience, graduate degrees earned, motivation, leadership and service.' SILENCE WORTH RECORDING: the admissions pages invite no other writing whatsoever — no diversity or perspective statement, no 'why SLU' essay, no optional essay, and no addendum of any kind (not for GPA, not for LSAT, not for character and fitness; the only character-and-fitness text is the ABA Standard 504 bar-admission boilerplate on the Admissions Policy page, which advises applicants to contact the relevant jurisdiction and does not ask for an application addendum). Those requirement types are omitted from this file because the school is silent about them, not because it has ruled them out — the LSAC-hosted application form itself could not be inspected.

- Letter of recommendation (1 of 2)Requiredstart by Jan 4, 2027
Notes & source
'SLU LAW requires applicants to use the LSAC Letter of Recommendation Service. A minimum of two letters is required and we will accept up to four letters. We encourage applicants to request letters from individuals who can accurately assess their intellectual ability, motivation, character and academic performance. We place value on content that verifies the qualifications of the applicant to compete in the law school environment.' The page draws no academic-versus-professional distinction and sets no waiver policy. Letters go to LSAC (Law School Admission Council, 662 Penn Street, PO Box 8508, Newtown, PA 19840-8505). Separately, LSAC evaluations are accepted but optional: 'We do accept Evaluation forms through the LSAC Evaluations Service but they are not required.'

- RésuméRequiredstart by Jan 25, 2027
Notes & source
Listed among the six application requirements on the Apply Now page simply as 'Resume,' with no page limit, format guidance, or content guidance published anywhere — no page_limit is recorded because the school states none. Worth flagging: the parallel restatement of the admission requirements on the school's J.D. program page (slu.edu/law/academics/law-jd.php) and in the SLU academic catalog omits the resume entirely, so the Apply Now checklist is the only page that names it.

- Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Jan 11, 2027
Notes & source
Registration for the LSAC Credential Assembly Service is required: 'No application is complete without test scores and transcript analysis from LSAC's CAS.' 'All undergraduate and graduate transcripts must be forwarded directly to the CAS,' and 'SLU LAW will request the LSAC CAS Report upon receipt of the application.' The school warns that 'Incomplete applications will not be reviewed' and puts the burden on the applicant to confirm receipt of documents with the Admissions Office. Degree requirement: 'A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis by the Admissions Committee as authorized by ABA Accreditation Standards Section 502(C).' English proficiency: 'A TOEFL Score is required only if the applicant was educated in a foreign country.' No minimum TOEFL score is published, IELTS is not mentioned, and the pages describe no LSAC international credential-evaluation step.

- LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Dec 3, 2026
Notes & source
LSAT only — the GRE is not accepted. The explicit sentence is 'Currently, SLU LAW does not accept the GRE, only the LSAT,' which sits inside the Apply Now page's COVID-19 FAQ block (a block otherwise about Fall 2020 admission); no more recent page contradicts it, and the school's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report corroborates it — LSAT is the only admission test reported, with all 222 first-year enrollees counted as LSAT admissions enrollees and no GRE or JD-Next rows. Score validity is unusually short: 'SLU LAW will only consider LSAT scores earned within the last three years,' where five years is the common practice. Only the top score counts — the Admissions Committee 'looks only at the applicant's highest score.' Timing guidance rather than a cutoff: 'We highly recommend that applicants take the LSAT in the summer or fall prior to the year they wish to enter law school.' The pages do not name the last LSAT administration accepted in a cycle.

- Application feeOptionalat submission
Notes & source
There is no application fee. The school's tuition and fees page lists, under Prospective Student Costs, 'Application fee — none,' and its 2025 ABA Standard 509 report reports the application fee as 0. Because no fee is charged, no waiver policy is published. One contradiction, resolved against the stale page: the Apply Now page's note paragraph still tells applicants to confirm the Admissions Office received 'the necessary application documents, including the application fee' — the fee-free tuition page (carrying current 2026-27 figures) and the certified 509 are preferred over that leftover wording.
