What it costs, how graduates fare

Tuition2025-26

$47,400 full-time · plus $1,690 annual fees

Living expenses $25,716 on campus · $25,616 off

Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

Bar passageclass of 2025

65.2%first-time−12.3

77.5% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 103 of 158 first-time takers passed

78.3% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

Employmentclass of 2025

117 of 169 (69.2%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 12 more in JD-advantage jobs · 14 still seeking

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

First-year attrition2024-25

3.0% of the first-year class · 6 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

Not a starting salary.

$55,777 median one year after finishing · $90,866 after four

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays

  • Personal statementRequired · 3 pgstart by Mar 11, 2027

Why do you want to pursue the study of law? What educational, employment, or family experiences would be relevant to your application? What unique factors in your background would enrich the RWU Law classroom experience?

    Notes & source

'The Admissions Committee attaches significant value to statements made in this supplement, which should not exceed three (3) pages and should address:' followed by the three questions quoted above. page_limit 3 -- 'should not exceed' is unambiguous ceiling language. No spacing, font or margin instruction is published. THE THREE QUESTIONS ARE ALL TO BE ADDRESSED, not chosen among: the instruction is 'should address', plural, and all three are listed without an 'or'. That makes this a structured essay rather than an open statement, and the third question -- 'What unique factors in your background would enrich the RWU Law classroom experience?' -- is a why-us question in substance, so no separate why_x_essay row is recorded. Note it also overlaps the optional mission statement essay; see that entry. The statement 'will be uploaded as an attachment through the LSAC application.'

  • Perspective statementOptionalstart by Mar 18, 2027
    Notes & source

'Mission Statement Essay (Optional) -- You may submit an optional mission statement essay. The School of Law seeks to admit a class of varying backgrounds and experiences. In our judgment, exposure to widely diverse people, ideas, cultures, and viewpoints help prepare students to develop the skills and sensitivity necessary to succeed in today's classroom environment.' That is the whole published description: RWU explains why it wants the essay but never states what to write, how long it may be, or how it is weighed. No prompt, no page or word limit, no format -- all recorded as silence rather than guessed. THE ESSAY IS NOT A THROWAWAY: the committee lists it among the components it reviews, naming 'the personal statement, resume, letter(s) of recommendation, optional mission statement, and any addenda submitted with the application.' An optional piece that appears in the school's own list of what it reads is worth writing. NOTE THE OVERLAP WITH THE REQUIRED STATEMENT'S THIRD QUESTION, which already asks 'What unique factors in your background would enrich the RWU Law classroom experience?' RWU does not say how the two differ, so the two documents should be planned together. Recorded as perspective_statement rather than optional_essay because it invites background and experience rather than posing a question.

  • AddendumOptionalstart by Mar 29, 2027
    Notes & source

ADDENDA ARE ACCEPTED BUT NEVER DESCRIBED. The Admissions Committee's own list of what it reviews ends with 'any addenda submitted with the application', which establishes that addenda are read -- but RWU publishes no addendum invitation, no named use, no topic guidance, no length limit, and no instruction on how to submit one. An applicant knows only that the committee will read one if it arrives. Recorded as required false with that silence noted; it is a thinner treatment than most schools in either batch, several of which name the GPA and score addendum explicitly. CHARACTER AND FITNESS IS THE ABA STANDARD 504 CAUTION AND NOTHING MORE: 'In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction.' There is no question set, no disclosure instruction, no explanation requirement, and no continuing duty to update. Recorded on this entry because the taxonomy in docs/DATA.md has no character-and-fitness type.

Letters & documents

  • Letter of recommendationRequiredstart by Mar 4, 2027
    Notes & source

ONLY ONE LETTER IS REQUIRED, WHICH IS THE LOWEST FLOOR IN EITHER BATCH: 'One letter of recommendation is required to complete your application. The School of Law welcomes and reads additional letters.' No maximum is published, so count_accepted is left unset rather than guessed -- 'welcomes and reads additional letters' is an open invitation without a stated ceiling. A RECENCY-TRIGGERED ACADEMIC PREFERENCE: 'If you have been enrolled in an academic program within the last three years, the School of Law prefers at least one academic recommendation.' WHAT MAKES A LETTER USEFUL is spelled out, with three named qualities: 'Positive and meaningful recommendations concerning your analytical skills, communication, and writing abilities often prove helpful in the Committee's decision making. Therefore, the School of Law advises the submission of letters of recommendation from college professors who can attest to your ability to enter a competitive professional program. If you have been out of school for some time, letters from a supervisor or co-worker can be helpful.' Delivery is mandatory through LSAC: 'The School of Law requires that letters be submitted through the LSAC Letter of Recommendation Service that serves all member schools. This service is included in the CAS Registration Subscription.'

  • RésuméRequiredstart by Mar 25, 2027
    Notes & source

'Submit a resume that outlines your academic and professional experience. The resume will be uploaded as an attachment through the LSAC application.' No page limit, format, or further content guidance is published, so none is recorded. The resume is named among the components the Admissions Committee reviews alongside the personal statement, letters, optional mission statement and any addenda.

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Jan 31, 2027
    Notes & source

THE LSAT IS THE ONLY TEST RWU PUBLISHES: 'Each applicant must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), which is offered several times per year.' The word GRE does not appear on the admission landing page or the first-year applicant page as fetched on 2026-08-20, and no JD-Next variance is claimed. The 509 corroborates rather than merely failing to contradict: all 189 first-year enrollees are certified in the LSAT row, with no GRE row and no JD-Next row printed. Recorded as an LSAT-only policy on the strength of both sources agreeing; the taxonomy type remains lsat_or_gre. THE TEST CALENDAR IS THE MOST DETAILED IN EITHER BATCH AND IS TIERED RATHER THAN BINARY, which mattered most against the July 15 extended deadline the school published until autumn 2026 (that row has since been removed from its table): 'We recommend that you take the LSAT no later than January in the year in which you intend to matriculate. While we will accept an April test score, we encourage you to take an earlier test for optimal consideration for admission and scholarship consideration. A June test score will be considered on a case by case basis. Please contact the Office of Admissions at (401) 254-4555 before registering for the June exam if you plan to take the test in the year in which you intend to matriculate. We will not accept a July or August test score in the year in which you intend to matriculate.' So: January preferred, April accepted, June by prior arrangement only, July and August refused outright. VALIDITY: 'LSAT scores are considered stale after five years.' NO MINIMUM SCORE is published, and nothing is said about superscoring, averaging, or how multiple sittings are weighed -- silences rather than policies. The LSAT is named alongside UGPA as one of 'two important factors'.

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Mar 11, 2027
    Notes & source

'Applicants are required to register with the Credential Assembly Service (CAS). The CAS report includes the LSAT score(s) and transcripts from all the undergraduate and graduate schools attended. The RWU Law code number is 3081.' DEGREE BY MATRICULATION, NOT BY APPLICATION: 'Admission to the school is contingent upon completion of the baccalaureate degree.' No minimum GPA is published. WHAT ELSE IS WEIGHED, beyond UGPA and LSAT: 'graduate degree, work experience, involvement in undergraduate extracurricular activities, rigor of undergraduate courses, community involvement, life experiences and other appropriate considerations. Each application is reviewed on an individual basis.' INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS are routed to a separate page not fetched for this file -- 'Applicants who received their undergraduate degree outside the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada should review the requirements for International Student Applicants' -- so no TOEFL, IELTS or credential-evaluation terms are asserted here. Note the carve-out includes Puerto Rico alongside the US and Canada, which not every school specifies.

Administrative

  • Application feeRequiredat submission
    Notes & source

$60, certified by the 509 as 'Application fee 60.00' -- and the admissions pages never mention a fee at all. No amount, no payment step, and no waiver process appears in the application components list, the deadline table, or the admission landing page as fetched on 2026-08-20. Recorded as required true on the strength of the 509, with the site's silence noted: an applicant reading only RWU's own pages would not know a fee exists, and at $60 it is the highest in this batch. NO WAIVER PROCESS IS PUBLISHED -- neither need-based, nor keyed to an LSAC waiver, nor tied to an event -- recorded as silence rather than as a statement that none exists. LSAC's own CAS and report charges are separate; RWU does note that the Letter of Recommendation Service 'is included in the CAS Registration Subscription'. Separately, after admission, two seat deposits fall due (April 15 and June 1) whose amounts RWU does not publish.

  • InterviewOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

Recorded as the site's silence, not as a statement that RWU does not interview. Neither the admission landing page nor the first-year applicant page -- which carries what the committee looks for, the full application components list, the deadline table, financial aid and the application-status process -- uses the word 'interview' in any form, as fetched on 2026-08-20. The described process is entirely file-based, ending in an emailed decision tracked through Applicant Status Online: 'Applicants will be notified by email when a decision has been reached.'
