- Tuition2025-26
$19,474–$43,192 full-time · resident to non-resident · plus $1,546 annual fees
Living expenses $23,114 on campus

- Bar passageclass of 2025
77.0%first-time−0.9
77.9% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 77 of 100 first-time takers passed
82.0% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating
A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

- Employmentclass of 2025
74 of 100 (74.0%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission
Ten months after graduation · 4 more in JD-advantage jobs · 1 still seeking
The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

0.0% of the first-year class · 0 students
No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

Not a starting salary.
$63,375 median one year after finishing · $85,706 after four
$105,518 is the national median at four years for the same credential
A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

- AddendumOptional · 1 pgstart by Dec 12, 2026
Applicants may choose to provide a brief addendum explaining aspects of their academic performance necessary for the Admissions Committee to understand when reviewing the applicant’s file. An academic addendum should be no more than one (1) page, double-spaced, using standard fonts and margins, unless extraordinary circumstances merit a longer explanation.
Notes & source
Titled "Academic Addendum (optional)." The page describes no other optional addendum topics — no test-score, employment-gap, or general "anything else" addendum is invited. RE-READ 2026-10-07 against the rewritten page: unchanged.

- AddendumOptionalstart by Dec 12, 2026
Applicants who answer “yes” to any of the questions in the Character & Fitness section of the Electronic Application must submit an addendum to fully explain the circumstances, including relevant dates, final dispositions, and other appropriate details.
Notes & source
Conditional, not optional: required of any applicant who answers “yes” to a Character & Fitness question, and marked required: false here only because it does not apply to every applicant. "Addenda should be in the applicant’s own words. Court documents should not be submitted in place of the applicant’s own narrative statement of events." Applicants carry a continuing obligation to disclose: if an answer changes from “no” to “yes” after submission, they must contact the Office of Admissions with a written explanation. The school notes that many jurisdictions, including New Mexico, require a copy of the law school application as part of the bar application. (The companion character-and-fitness page this note used to cite now returns 404.) RE-READ 2026-10-07 against the rewritten page: unchanged.

- Letter of recommendation (1 of 2)Requiredstart by Nov 17, 2026
Notes & source
"Applicants must submit via the Credential Assembly Service two (2) letters of recommendation, though applicants may choose to submit up to three (3) letters. The Admissions Committee expects letters to be academic or professional in nature and strongly prefers letters of recommendation written within one (1) year of the date of application." Current students and recent graduates "should have at least one academic letter of recommendation from a professor with personal knowledge of the applicant’s academic work"; professional letters should come from an employer with direct knowledge, preferably a direct supervisor. "Letters from a professional mentor for whom the applicant has not worked directly are not persuasive." Personal letters from family or acquaintances are strongly discouraged. Letters sent directly to the Office of Admissions will not be accepted. CHANGED 2026-10-07: the ceiling dropped from four letters to three; the two-letter floor and the guidance on who should write are unchanged.

- Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Nov 24, 2026
Notes & source
Official transcripts from all undergraduate and post-undergraduate institutions attended must go through the LSAC Credential Assembly Service, "even if you did not earn a degree from the institution or the credits from that institution transferred to another institution." Transcripts sent directly to the Office of Admissions will not be accepted. THE INTERNATIONAL-APPLICANT RULES ARE NO LONGER ON THIS PAGE as of 2026-10-07. The closed cycle's version required CAS Authentication & Evaluation for foreign study, TOEFL or IELTS for English proficiency, and proof of funding for a year's cost of attendance; the rewritten page drops that section and no replacement page was found (the site's admissions navigation now offers only 1L Early Binding Decision, 1L Regular Decision, 2L Transfer and Visiting Student). An international applicant should ask the office directly rather than assume those rules have lapsed. The page states no minimum GPA and does not say whether a bachelor's degree must be conferred before matriculation.

- LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Oct 16, 2026
Notes & source
LSAT only, stated explicitly rather than by silence: "The University of New Mexico School of Law does not accept standardized tests other than the LSAT and will not waive the requirement of a reportable LSAT score under any circumstances. Self-reports of other standardized test scores will not be taken into consideration." At least one reportable score is required — "one from a testing date within the past five (5) testing years and not canceled by the candidate." An application may be submitted before a score is released but is not complete until the school receives it. An applicant planning a retake must name the future test date in the electronic application and answer "yes" to Section 5, Question 1d to have the file held for it. "Decisions of the Admissions Committee are final and not subject to appeal"; a denied applicant will not be re-reviewed in the same cycle even after a later score, and must reapply the following cycle. RE-READ 2026-10-07: unchanged. The transfer-track LSAT waiver this note used to mention has moved off this page with the transfer section and was not re-read.

Notes & source
"Applicants must submit an electronic application available on LSAC.org. There is a $50 nonrefundable application fee." The $50 figure matches the school's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report. "Application materials and fees submitted directly to the Office of Admissions will not be accepted." The page does not mention fee waivers. RE-READ 2026-10-07 against the rewritten page: unchanged.
