What it costs, how graduates fare

Bar passageclass of 2025

86.2%first-time+0.4

85.8% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 106 of 123 first-time takers passed

94.1% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

Employmentclass of 2025

108 of 125 (86.4%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 11 more in JD-advantage jobs · 4 still seeking · 3 of the bar-admission jobs are funded by the school

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

First-year attrition2024-25

4.0% of the first-year class · 4 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

EarningsCollege Scorecard

Not a starting salary.

$59,716 median one year after finishing · $86,349 after four

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays

  • Personal statementRequired · 2 pgstart by Oct 25, 2026
    Notes & source

No prompt text is published. The JD Admissions checklist says only: 'A response to the prompt must be submitted as an attachment and should not exceed two pages. The personal statement should not be used to explain legal, educational, or other issues, whether current or past. Such matters should instead be addressed in a separate attachment.' The prompt itself lives inside the LSAC application form, which is not publicly viewable — recorded here as the site's silence, not as an absence of a prompt. The school's International Students page (law.missouri.edu/admissions/apply/international-students/) does describe a statement of 'approximately two pages in length' whose 'suggested topics include an applicant's motivations for studying law, their greatest accomplishments, or a significant obstacle they have overcome. However, applicants can write about whatever topic they choose. Somewhere in the statement and the applicant is asked to briefly address why they are interested in Mizzou Law.' That would make the personal statement carry an embedded 'why Mizzou' element, but the page is addressed to international applicants and is visibly stale (it directs applicants to 'the Mizzou Law 2024 Application for Admission'), so it is not treated here as the current general-applicant prompt and no separate why_x_essay requirement is recorded.

  • Optional essayOptionalschool-specificstart by Nov 8, 2026

Tell us more about you. Mizzou Law encourages you to provide any of the following applicable information, in writing, to aid the committee when evaluating your application:

    Notes & source

The JD Admissions page's 'Other Criteria Considered' section. The site does not call this an essay, give it a name, or set any length limit; it is recorded as an optional written supplement because the school explicitly invites it 'in writing.' The listed items are: military service; extracurricular activities; leadership positions and experience; public service activities; career objectives; personal interests; and state of residence and connection to Missouri or the University of Missouri. The page adds elsewhere that 'Mizzou Law encourages applicants to provide in writing whatever they wish the committee to consider' and that a file 'can be updated at any time.'

  • AddendumOptionalstart by Nov 12, 2026
    Notes & source

The page does not use the word 'addendum'; it calls for 'a separate attachment' and lists two occasions under 'Additional Information.' First, character and fitness: 'Any legal or character-and-fitness issues must be disclosed. Such matters are required to be reported during the bar admission process, and failure to disclose them may jeopardize admission to the Bar, standing within the law school, or scholarship eligibility... If the applicant is unsure about disclosing information regarding past legal transgressions, they should disclose them.' Second, context: 'Applicants may also address educational, socioeconomic, disability-related, or other factors relevant to the application.' Supporting documents 'should be saved and attached as PDF files.' The personal statement instruction reinforces this — legal, educational, or other issues belong in a separate attachment rather than the statement. No length limit is published.

  • Letter of recommendation (1 of 2)Requiredstart by Oct 18, 2026
    Notes & source

'Two letters of recommendation are required, and up to four may be submitted. Letters should come from individuals familiar with the applicant and capable of addressing academic ability and potential for success in law school. Applicants who are current undergraduates or who graduated within the past five years must provide at least one letter from an instructor who evaluated undergraduate coursework. Letters from high school teachers or earlier instructors will not satisfy this requirement. No specific format is required. All letters must be submitted through CAS.'

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Oct 25, 2026
    Notes & source

'Official transcripts must be sent to LSAC from every undergraduate and graduate institution attended. This includes dual-credit coursework completed in high school, transfer credits, postgraduate coursework, secondary degrees, master's programs, PhD programs, and other professional degrees. Applicants are advised to complete at least six semesters of undergraduate study before requesting transcripts.' Eligibility also requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Registration with the Credential Assembly Service is mandatory, and per the admissions FAQ (law.missouri.edu/admissions/admissions-faqs/) 'CAS will not send information to schools until it has received transcripts from every college or university from which you have received credit, including summer sessions and study abroad.' Applicants whose native language is not English must take the TOEFL, per the International Students page. Applications may be submitted before LSAT scores are released, but review does not begin until the file is complete; the school needs roughly two business days to receive processed CAS documents (the Early Decision page states a minimum of 5 business days).

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Sep 16, 2026
    Notes & source

LSAT only. 'Submission of an LSAT score is required. The highest score will be considered. Applicants are encouraged to complete the LSAT before the listed deadlines.' On JD-Next: 'The LSAT is required. A JD-Next score is not accepted as a substitute. However, a JD-Next score may be submitted as a supplement to the application.' The GRE is not mentioned on any Mizzou Law admissions page reviewed (JD Admissions, Apply, Application Deadlines, Early Decision, International Students, Admissions FAQs) — recorded as the site's silence, not as an explicit refusal to accept it. Per the admissions FAQ (law.missouri.edu/admissions/admissions-faqs/): all applicants including Roberts Scholars must take the LSAT; 'LSAT scores are good for five years'; and 'The Admissions Committee will see all scores, the dates taken and the percentile. We currently only consider your highest score.' There are no cut-off LSAT or GPA scores and no initial screen on numbers.

Administrative

  • Application feeRequiredat submission
    Notes & source

'A non-refundable $60 application fee is required.' The same $60 figure appears in the school's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report. No fee waiver of any kind is mentioned on the pages reviewed — recorded as silence, not as a statement that waivers are unavailable. Application is submitted online through the Credential Assembly Service on LSAC. Separately, on deposits: the admissions FAQ describes a first, non-refundable $250 seat deposit ('Partial Deposit Paid') applied toward fall tuition and a later 'Full Deposit Paid' status, but does not publish the full deposit amount; the JD Admissions timeline sets April 1 as the seat deposit deadline for students admitted before that date.

  • InterviewOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

No interview is part of the standard process; contact is at the committee's initiative. JD Admissions wording: 'You will be contacted by the admissions office if the Admissions Committee wishes to speak with you.' The International Students page (law.missouri.edu/admissions/apply/international-students/) states it more directly: 'evaluative interviews are not a part of the admissions process except at the admissions committee's request.' No format, timing, or invitation criteria are published.
