What it costs, how graduates fare
- Tuition2025-26
$25,685–$49,836 full-time · resident to non-resident · plus $1,616 annual fees
Living expenses $23,435 on campus · $28,425 off
Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

- Bar passageclass of 2025
79.8%first-time+1.0
78.9% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 91 of 114 first-time takers passed
83.5% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating
A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

- Employmentclass of 2025
103 of 115 (89.6%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission
Ten months after graduation · 4 more in JD-advantage jobs · 2 still seeking
The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

- First-year attrition2024-25
1.0% of the first-year class · 1 student
No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

- EarningsCollege Scorecard
Not a starting salary.
$53,600 median one year after finishing · $86,420 after four
$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential
A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays
- Personal statementRequiredstart by Oct 25, 2026
Notes & source
Listed among first-year application requirements as 'Personal Statement (via LSAC)'. The page publishes no prompt, topic, word limit, page limit, or formatting requirement for the personal statement, and no other page on the admissions site does either — recorded here as the site's silence, not as an absence of limits. The Admissions Policies and Procedure page (law.uky.edu/admissions/admissions-policies-and-procedure) says only that the Committee weighs 'writing skills as demonstrated in the students' statement(s)' among its full-file factors.

- Why this schoolOptionalschool-specificstart by Nov 5, 2026
Notes & source
The First-Year Applicants page lists, among application requirements, 'Other Optional Materials (Addenda, UK Law interest statement) (via LSAC or to UK Law Admissions)'. That single bullet is the only mention of the interest statement anywhere on the admissions site: no prompt, length limit, or guidance on what it should address is published, and the page does not say whether it is read by the Committee. Typed as why_x_essay because it is a statement of interest in UK Law specifically.

- AddendumOptionalstart by Nov 12, 2026
Notes & source
Optional. The only mention is the bullet 'Other Optional Materials (Addenda, UK Law interest statement) (via LSAC or to UK Law Admissions)'. The page gives no examples of appropriate addendum topics and publishes no length limit. Separately, under 'Amending/Updating Your Application,' applicants are told to keep the application truthful and complete and to update it 'to ensure it reflects any changes to the Character and Fitness questions,' before or after a decision is rendered.

- Letter of recommendation (1 of 2)Requiredstart by Oct 18, 2026
Notes & source
'At least 2 Letters of Recommendation (via LSAC/CAS)'. The page sets a floor of two but publishes no maximum accepted and no guidance on who recommenders should be, so count_accepted is left unrecorded rather than assumed. Additional letters may be sent after filing: 'If you are sending an updated transcript or an additional letter of recommendation, you should send them through LSAC's CAS.'

- Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Oct 25, 2026
Notes & source
'Official transcripts from all undergraduate institutions (via LSAC/CAS)'. Applicants 'must have obtained a baccalaureate degree, prior to the start of the academic term, from a fully accredited U.S. institution of higher learning.' Per the International Applicants page (law.uky.edu/admissions/apply/international-applicants), LSAC's CAS evaluates the credentials of any applicant who attended undergraduate school outside the U.S. or Canada, and applicants whose second language is English must take the TOEFL and have the official score report mailed to LSAC — the school considers a score of at least 650 (paper-based), 280 (computer-based), or at least 114 (internet-based) to show an acceptable grasp of English for the study of law. That page does not mention the IELTS.

- LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Sep 16, 2026
Notes & source
LSAT only: 'LSAT score(s) from the last 5 years (via LSAC/CAS)'. The page does not mention the GRE, and no page in the admissions section mentions the GRE for J.D. admission — recorded here as the site's silence, not as an explicit rejection of the GRE. (The only GRE mention anywhere in admissions is on the FAQ page, about the partner program's GMAT/GRE requirement for dual-degree applicants, not about the J.D. application.) Corroborating but not deciding: the school's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report publishes only an LSAT block, and its 147 'LSAT Admissions Enrollees' equal the entire first-year class. The page publishes no score-averaging or highest-score policy, and does not mention JD-Next or an ABA Standard 503 variance.

- Application feeRequiredat submission
Notes & source
'Online application and $50.00 fee (via LSAC)'. The amount also appears in the school's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report. Per the Application Fee Waiver Policy page (law.uky.edu/admissions/apply/application-fee-waiver-policy), four waiver categories are available: Merit (academic merit); Service (U.S. Armed Forces, AmeriCorps/VISTA, Peace Corps, Teach for America, or similar programs); LSAC Fee Waiver recipients (attach LSAC documentation); and 'On the Road' (attending a UK Rosenberg Law event or visiting its table on the road). Applicants unsure whether they qualify may email uklawadmissions@uky.edu with 'Fee Waiver Request' in the subject line. The page does not say whether the fee is refundable.
