$30,944–$52,191 full-time · resident to non-resident · plus $2,545 annual fees

Bar passageclass of 2025

91.4%first-time+10.5

80.9% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 138 of 151 first-time takers passed

91.5% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

Employmentclass of 2025

144 of 158 (91.1%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 10 more in JD-advantage jobs · 0 still seeking

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

First-year attrition2024-25

2.0% of the first-year class · 4 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

EarningsCollege Scorecard

Not a starting salary.

$78,560 median one year after finishing · $107,273 after four

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Use your personal statement to share your story, goals, and motivations for pursuing law school.

No published length limit or single mandatory prompt; the page offers reflection questions instead: Why do you want to study law? Why are you interested in Iowa Law? How would you contribute to our law school community and the legal profession? Describe any life experiences that demonstrate your drive, determination, motivation, and leadership. The committee uses it to understand strengths beyond test scores and transcripts.

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Mar 2, 2027
    Notes & source

LSAT is 'the preferred exam' and is used to determine both admission and scholarship eligibility; take it no later than February of the intended enrollment year (earlier recommended). Scores older than five years are not accepted. A GRE may be submitted instead, but 'Iowa Law does not currently grant admissions scholarships to applicants without an LSAT.' Current University of Iowa students may submit GRE, GMAT, ACT, or SAT scores instead of the LSAT through the Kinnick Law Program.

  • Application feeOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

Iowa Law charges no application fee: its ABA Standard 509 report (generated 12-17-2025) lists the application fee as $0, and the school's admissions pages describe the LSAC application steps without mentioning any fee. LSAC's own CAS/registration fees still apply.
