What it costs, how graduates fare

Tuition2025-26

$27,516–$46,752 full-time · resident to non-resident

Living expenses $20,136 on campus

Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

Bar passageclass of 2025

75.2%first-time−6.4

81.6% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 94 of 125 first-time takers passed

79.7% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

114 of 137 (83.2%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 2 more in JD-advantage jobs · 12 still seeking

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

5.0% of the first-year class · 9 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays

  • Personal statementRequired · 2 pgstart by Feb 8, 2027
    Notes & source

Listed among the materials that 'must accompany your application': 'Personal statement -- Up to two pages, double-spaced, 12 pt font.' Recorded as page_limit 2; 'up to' is a cap rather than guidance, and the spacing and font are specified alongside it. NO PROMPT IS PUBLISHED, WHICH IS THE NOTABLE THING HERE -- Idaho states the format and nothing else. There is no question, no list of suggested contents, no statement of what the committee hopes to learn, and no tips page. That silence is recorded rather than filled: the prompt field is left unset instead of being reconstructed from the generic advice most schools give. NO WHY-IDAHO QUESTION is asked and no separate why_x_essay is published, so that type is omitted. A perspective statement IS offered separately and optionally; see the perspective_statement entry. Note that Idaho asks for the same two-page, double-spaced, 12-point format for its transfer essay and its visiting essay, so the format instruction is a house standard rather than specific to the personal statement.

  • Perspective statementOptionalstart by Feb 15, 2027
    Notes & source

OFFERED UNDER 'Supplemental materials (optional)': 'Unique perspectives statement -- to provide context on any life circumstances or factors relevant to your application.' Quoted in full, because that single line is everything Idaho publishes about it. NO LENGTH, FORMAT, OR PAGE LIMIT is given -- unusual at a school that specifies two pages, double-spaced and 12-point for every other piece of writing it asks for -- and no guidance on what circumstances qualify, whether submitting one is neutral or encouraged, or how it is weighed. All of that is recorded as silence rather than guessed. THE FRAMING IS DELIBERATELY BROAD: 'any life circumstances or factors relevant to your application' is not a diversity prompt, not an adversity prompt, and not a score addendum -- it is an open context statement, which means at Idaho it can absorb material that at other schools would be split across a perspective essay and a GPA addendum. Recorded as perspective_statement rather than optional_essay because it asks for context on the applicant's own circumstances rather than posing a question.

  • AddendumOptionalstart by Feb 26, 2027
    Notes & source

TWO SEPARATE OPENINGS, ONE CONDITIONAL AND ONE OPEN-ENDED. The conditional one is character and fitness, listed among the materials that must accompany an application: 'Character and fitness addendum -- As required by the application.' That phrasing makes the obligation contingent on the LSAC form's own questions, and Idaho publishes NOTHING further about it -- no question set, no instruction on what an affirmative answer requires, no evidentiary standard, no continuing duty to update, and no ABA Standard 504 bar-admission caution on the admissions page. Compared with peer schools that reproduce their full question list, that is a substantial silence, and it is recorded as one: an applicant with something to disclose has no published guidance on scope or depth and would need to ask. The open-ended one sits under 'Supplemental materials (optional)': 'Other supporting materials you believe strengthen your application.' No length, format, or count is published, and Idaho does not say whether such materials are welcomed or merely tolerated. That line is also the closest thing Idaho offers to a conventional explanatory addendum for a low GPA or a score disparity -- the school never names that use, and the separate unique perspectives statement is framed around life circumstances rather than academic explanation. Required is false because both openings are conditional or optional. The character and fitness addendum is also listed as a required-if-applicable item for transfer and visiting applicants.

Letters & documents

  • RésuméRequired · 2 pgstart by Feb 22, 2027
    Notes & source

One of the materials that 'must accompany your application': 'Résumé -- Two pages max.' Recorded as page_limit 2; 'max' is an explicit cap. No content guidance is published -- Idaho does not say what to include, what it weighs, or whether work history, activities or service matter more, so none is recorded.

  • Letter of recommendation (1 of 2)Requiredstart by Feb 1, 2027
    Notes & source

'Letters of recommendation -- Minimum of two, up to three accepted.' A clean floor and ceiling, which many schools in this data set do not publish. Letters travel through LSAC rather than to the school: the Credential Assembly Service 'Compiles your academic records and letters of recommendation'. NO GUIDANCE ON WHO SHOULD WRITE -- no preference for academic over professional recommenders, no discouraged categories, nothing about what a letter should address, and no recency rule of the kind several peer schools publish. Recorded as the school's silence.

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Dec 31, 2026
    Notes & source

THE LSAT IS THE ONLY ADMISSION TEST IDAHO PUBLISHES, AND THE 509 AGREES. The requirement is stated flatly among the three things applicants 'must' do: 'Take the LSAT', with a pointer to 'Free prep resources: LSAC LSAT Prep'. The word GRE does not appear on the admissions page or the ABA requirements page as fetched on 2026-08-31, and no JD-Next variance is claimed. The 509 corroborates rather than merely failing to contradict: all 197 first-year enrollees are certified in the LSAT row, and no GRE row and no JD-Next row is printed at all. Recorded as an LSAT-only policy on the strength of both sources agreeing; the taxonomy type remains lsat_or_gre. NOTHING ELSE IS PUBLISHED ABOUT HOW THE SCORE IS USED -- no minimum, no statement on superscoring, averaging or highest-score selection, no score-validity window, no treatment of multiple sittings, and no mention of LSAT Writing. Every one of those is a silence rather than a policy, and several of them are questions an applicant with two sittings would need to ask admissions directly. Idaho publishes no statement of admissions criteria or weighting anywhere on its admissions pages.

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Feb 8, 2027
    Notes & source

Two of the three things an applicant 'must' do are credential mechanics: 'Register with Credential Assembly Service (CAS) -- Compiles your academic records and letters of recommendation', and 'Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.' The degree requirement is stated without a matriculation carve-out -- Idaho does not say, as many schools do, that an application may be filed during the final undergraduate year subject to the degree being conferred before enrolment. That is recorded as silence rather than read as a bar on applying senior year. NO MINIMUM GPA is published, and no guidance appears on how the undergraduate record is read -- no mention of grade trends, institutional rigor, major, or graduate work. NO INTERNATIONAL OR ENGLISH-PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT is published on any law admissions page fetched: no TOEFL or IELTS minimum, no foreign-credential evaluation route, and no international-applicant instructions. The university's general international admissions pages are separate from the College of Law's and are not cited here, since they do not purport to govern JD admission.

Administrative

  • Application feeRequiredat submission
    Notes & source

$50, certified by the 509 as 'Application fee $50' and now printed on the admissions page itself as part of the waiver line. THE WAIVER IS A BLANKET EARLY-BIRD ONE RATHER THAN A NEED-BASED APPLICATION, which is unusual and is worth acting on: 'Idaho Law $50 application fee waived through Jan. 15, 2027 (Always waived for veterans and any person serving full-time or part-time in the U.S. Armed Forces)'. No form, no eligibility test, no LSAC waiver linkage — everyone who applies before the date pays nothing, and service members and veterans pay nothing at any point in the cycle. That military clause is new this cycle; the fall 2026 page carried the early-bird waiver alone. Recorded as required true with the waiver noted, since the fee is real for a non-military applicant applying between mid-January and the June 30 close. Idaho publishes no need-based waiver process for applicants who miss the date, which is recorded as silence. Visiting applicants are charged separately and are not covered by the waiver language: their materials list includes a '$50 non-refundable application fee'. LSAC's own CAS and report charges are separate and Idaho does not address them.

  • InterviewOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

Recorded as the site's silence, not as a statement that Idaho does not interview. Neither the law admissions page -- which carries the full application requirements, the supplemental materials list, the special-application types for transfer, visiting and 3+3 candidates, and the post-submission status process -- nor the ABA requirements page uses the word 'interview' in any form, as fetched on 2026-08-31. The only contact Idaho offers prospective applicants is a campus visit ('Schedule a campus visit to the Moscow or Boise locations'), which is not described as part of evaluation. The described decision process is entirely file-based: 'After submitting, you'll receive a notification of complete application email with login credentials to track your status online -- up to and including your final decision (admitted, waitlisted or denied).'
