What it costs, how graduates fare
- Bar passageclass of 2025
74.7%first-time−2.4
77.0% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 59 of 79 first-time takers passed
72.5% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating
A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

- Employmentclass of 2025
77 of 108 (71.3%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission
Ten months after graduation · 6 more in JD-advantage jobs · 9 still seeking
The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

- First-year attrition2024-25
16.0% of the first-year class · 18 students
No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

Not a starting salary.
$54,751 median one year after finishing · $81,144 after four
$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential
A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays
- Personal statementRequired · 3 pgstart by Apr 9, 2027
At the Florida A&M University College of Law, we value diversity and commitment to public service. Please prepare an essay (no more than three typed pages in length) that addresses the following questions: How have your life experiences and background shaped you into an individual who will enrich the Florida A&M University College of Law? How have your life experiences and background demonstrated a commitment to public service? Why do you want to pursue a legal education at Florida A&M University, and how do you envision using your legal education?
Notes & source
page_limit is recorded as 3 because 'no more than three typed pages in length' is a stated cap. THREE MANDATORY QUESTIONS IN ONE ESSAY, and this is the distinctive thing about applying here: the prompt is not an open invitation but a set of three questions that must all be addressed -- background and contribution, a demonstrated commitment to PUBLIC SERVICE, and why FAMU specifically. Public service is not incidental: the evaluation section says the school 'seeks diligent, hardworking students with a broad array of talents and experiences who demonstrate both an exceptional aptitude for the study of law and a strong history of or commitment to public service,' and 'Record of community or public service' appears in the committee's factor list. An applicant with no public-service record has a visible gap here that no other document covers. NO SEPARATE ESSAYS: FAMU publishes no standalone perspective statement and no separate 'why FAMU' essay -- both are folded into these three pages -- so those types are omitted from this file per docs/CURATION.md. Applicants reusing a statement written elsewhere will need to restructure it around the three questions rather than merely trim it. No font, spacing, or margin requirement is published. - AddendumOptionalstart by Apr 27, 2027
Notes & source
Optional, uncapped, and described only in the FAQ rather than in the requirements: 'Can I submit an addendum or additional written materials along with my application? Yes. The Admissions Committee believes that candidates should be able to expand upon aspects of their candidacy that are otherwise not represented in the required materials. Some examples include statements of strong interest in FAMU College of Law, explanations of undergraduate and/or LSAT performance, etc. We strongly suggest that applicants use their best judgment, in terms of content and length, when considering the submission of supplemental materials.' No page limit is recorded because the school deliberately declines to set one, deferring to the applicant's judgement. Worth noting that one of its own examples -- 'statements of strong interest in FAMU College of Law' -- overlaps the third mandatory personal-statement question, so an applicant already answers that in the main essay and should not simply repeat it here. Character and fitness is addressed only as the standard bar-admission caution; no explanatory attachment is requested, so none is recorded. RE-READ 2026-10-07 against the FAQ: unchanged.

- RésuméRequiredstart by Apr 23, 2027
Notes & source
'All applicants must submit a résumé that includes at least your last three positions of full-time employment, including summer employment. Resumes should be uploaded directly to the applicant's LSAC account.' The floor is unusual -- most schools describe what a resume may contain, whereas FAMU sets a minimum of three full-time positions and explicitly counts summer employment toward it. No page limit or format is published, so none is recorded. 'Work experience' appears separately in the committee's published list of review factors. - Letter of recommendation (1 of 2)Requiredstart by Apr 2, 2027
Notes & source
'All applicants are required to submit a personal statement and two letters of recommendation. Rather than submit letters of recommendation with the application, applicants are encouraged to utilize the LSAC's letter of recommendation service that is included in the LSDAS registration subscription.' Routing through LSAC is encouraged rather than mandated. AN ACADEMIC PREFERENCE IS IMPLIED RATHER THAN STATED, and only the FAQ reveals it: 'How many letters of recommendation should I submit and from whom? You may submit two letters of recommendation from professional references if you are unable to locate former professors.' So professors are the default and professional references are the fallback, though the school never says so directly on the requirements page. NO MAXIMUM IS PUBLISHED, so count_accepted is left unset rather than guessed. RE-READ 2026-10-07 against the fall 2027 page: unchanged.

- LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Mar 1, 2027
Notes & source
LSAT REQUIRED AND THE GRE EXPLICITLY REFUSED -- a denial rather than a silence, which per docs/CURATION.md is worth recording as such. The requirements read 'All applicants must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and are responsible for making their own arrangements to take the LSAT. For admission purposes, the Florida A&M University College of Law will accept LSAT scores that are up to five years old,' and the FAQ is blunt: 'Is FAMU College of Law accepting the GRE in place of the LSAT? We are not accepting the GRE.' The FAQ repeats the validity rule: 'An LSAT score is considered valid by the Admissions Committee for no longer than five years.' JD-NEXT IS A SUPPLEMENT, NOT A SUBSTITUTE -- CHANGED 2026-10-07. The banner at the foot of the evaluation section used to read 'FAMU Law now accepts JD-Next for JD Admissions', which left open whether it could stand in for the LSAT. It now reads 'FAMU Law now accepts JD-Next as a supplement to the application, a valid LSAT is required.' That settles it: a JD-Next score can be added to a file but cannot replace the LSAT, consistent with the requirements' 'All applicants must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).' The 509 prints no JD-Next row, which fits a supplement-only policy. The 509 reports all 177 first-year enrollees as LSAT admissions enrollees. LSAT Writing is read rather than merely required: the committee weighs 'Writing ability and attention to detail as evidenced by the LSAT writing sample and the personal statement.' Nothing is published about superscoring or averaging. One adjacent programme the school credits: 'FAMU Law considers successful completion of CLEO PLSI in the application review process!' RE-READ 2026-10-07: the FAQ still reads 'We are not accepting the GRE.'

- Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Apr 9, 2027
Notes & source
'All applicants must register for the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) and are responsible for making their own arrangements for submitting official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work to LSDAS for evaluation... Note that the LSDAS code for FAMU College of Law is 5832.' NOTE THE RETIRED NAME: LSDAS was renamed the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) years ago, and FAMU still uses the old term throughout, along with a phone number for enquiries -- one of several signs this page has not been refreshed in some time. A conferred bachelor's degree is required by enrolment rather than by application: 'All applicants for admission must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education prior to enrollment. Upon matriculation, one copy of an official transcript confirming the conferral of the bachelor's degree must be submitted to the LSAC.' The committee also weighs 'The academic reputation of the applicant's undergraduate and/or graduate institution' and 'The academic rigor of an applicant's undergraduate and/or graduate major(s)', so graduate work is read rather than merely collected. NOTHING IS PUBLISHED about international transcripts, foreign credential evaluation, TOEFL, or IELTS, and no minimum GPA is stated -- recorded as silence rather than as absent requirements. - Application feeRequiredat submission
Notes & source
THE AMOUNT IS NOT PUBLISHED ON THE SITE, only the waivers: 'All applicants must submit a completed Fall 2027 Application, along with the appropriate application fee. The application fee is waived for current Florida A&M University students and alumni. Additionally, the application fee is waived for applicants who have received current fee waivers from the Law School Admission Council.' The 509 supplies the figure and certifies it as 30 -- the lowest fee in this batch and among the lowest anywhere in the data set. TWO INDEPENDENT WAIVER ROUTES, both automatic in character rather than discretionary: institutional affiliation (current FAMU students and alumni, undergraduate or otherwise) and an existing LSAC fee waiver. No separate FAMU waiver application is described, and no deadline for requesting one is published. LSAC's own CAS and registration fees are separate and are not addressed. RE-READ 2026-10-07: the sentence now names the Fall 2027 Application and is otherwise unchanged; the site still prints no amount.

- InterviewOptionalat submission
Notes & source
AN EXPLICIT DENIAL IN BOTH DIRECTIONS -- FAMU neither interviews applicants nor entertains requests, and the FAQ says so in one sentence: 'Does the Admissions Committee conduct interviews as a part of the admissions process? While we are unable to interview candidates that submit an application for admission, also please note that we are unable to consider requests for interviews.' So there is no evaluative interview, no interview by invitation, and no interview on request. The committee's published list of review factors -- LSAT score, UGPA, writing ability as evidenced by the LSAT writing sample and personal statement, institutional reputation, academic rigour, record of community or public service, academic honours, work experience, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and evidence of motivation, character and fitness -- contains no interview, consistent with the denial. Campus visits are offered separately and are not part of the evaluation. RE-READ 2026-10-07 against the FAQ: unchanged.
