What it costs, how graduates fare

Tuition2025-26

$35,992–$44,002 full-time · resident to non-resident · plus $1,333 annual fees

Living expenses $27,320 on campus · $27,626 off

Tuition and the fees the school certifies alongside it — not a full cost of attendance.

Bar passageclass of 2025

89.7%first-time+9.2

80.5% is the average for all ABA-accredited schools’ graduates in the same jurisdictions this school’s graduates sat in · 139 of 155 first-time takers passed

93.4% of the class of 2023 were admitted within two years of graduating

A pass rate on its own says as much about which states a school feeds as about the school, so the ABA’s own like-for-like average is shown with it.

Employmentclass of 2025

146 of 157 (93.0%) in full-time, long-term jobs requiring bar admission

Ten months after graduation · 5 more in JD-advantage jobs · 2 still seeking · 4 of the bar-admission jobs are funded by the school

The ABA collects employment status and job type only. It collects no salary, so no salary figure comes from this filing.

1.0% of the first-year class · 2 students

No law school publishes a graduation rate, so this is not one. It is the students who left in their first year, academic and other, as filed. Transfers out are reported separately and are not counted here.

$107,773 is the national median at four years for the same credential

A College Scorecard median for 2017-18 and 2018-19 completers who received federal aid, measured a fixed number of years after they finished — not what this year’s graduates are being paid, and not a figure the school or the ABA publishes. The ABA collects no salary data at all.

Essays

  • Personal statementRequired · 1000 wstart by Mar 11, 2027

Colorado Law seeks students who demonstrate integrity, intellectual curiosity, leadership, collaboration, and commitment to service. We believe that meaningful legal education is enriched by students who bring diverse experiences, perspectives, and aspirations to our community. Your personal statement is an opportunity to allow the Admissions Committee to understand you beyond your academic record and résumé. Through your essay, demonstrate how your experiences, values, and goals have prepared you to contribute to the Colorado Law community and the legal profession. In your essay, you may respond to one or more of the following prompts: A: Tell us about a defining experience or relationship that has shaped your understanding of justice, leadership, service, or responsibility. Reflect on what you learned and how these experiences influenced your decision to pursue a legal education. B: Describe a cause or community that motivates you. Why is this issue important to you, and how do you hope to make a meaningful impact through the study and practice of law? C: Reflect on a time when you changed your perspective or used your values to guide a difficult decision. What did this experience teach you about yourself, and how will it shape your contributions to Colorado Law and the legal profession?

    Notes & source

THE PROMPT WAS REWRITTEN FOR THIS CYCLE and is headed '2027 Personal Statement' on the apply page — the fall 2026 version opened on Colorado Law's 'core values of character, diversity, leadership, and commitment to service' and set no lettered options. The 2027 version names 'integrity, intellectual curiosity, leadership, collaboration, and commitment to service' and offers three optional prompts, A, B and C, of which an applicant 'may respond to one or more'. Responding to none of them is not forbidden: 'While there is no "right" topic or approach, we encourage you to write authentically and share information that is not otherwise reflected in your application.' Hard limit: 'Your essay must be your own work, double-spaced, and should not exceed 1,000 words.' Accepted file formats are doc, docx, htm, html, PDF, rtf, txt, wp, wpd, wps and wpt. Submitted electronically through LSAC.

  • Perspective statementOptional · 500 wstart by Mar 18, 2027

Is there an aspect of your background, identity, experiences, responsibilities, interests, or personal journey that is not fully reflected elsewhere in your application but is important to understanding who you are? Share how this experience has influenced your perspective and how it will shape your contributions to the Colorado Law community.

    Notes & source

Labelled 'Optional Statement' on the apply page and rewritten for this cycle alongside the personal statement; the fall 2026 version asked how the applicant's 'experiences, background, or perspectives could contribute' and the 2027 version asks what is 'not fully reflected elsewhere in your application'. Kept under perspective_statement rather than optional_essay because the prompt is still about background and identity rather than a free topic. Hard limit: 'Your essay must be your own work, double-spaced, and should not exceed 500 words.' Accepted file formats are doc, docx, htm, html, PDF, rtf, txt, wp, wpd, wps and wpt. Distinct from the Addenda slot, which is for 'Additional Information' and is attached following the personal statement with that phrase labelled at the top of the document.

  • AddendumOptionalstart by Mar 29, 2027
    Notes & source

Optional. Site wording: 'Attach electronically any addenda following the personal statement. Clearly label the top of the document as "Additional Information."' No length limit or topic list is published on the apply page; the admissions FAQ (colorado.edu/law/admissions/faq) says an addendum 'can be helpful' to explain a large disparity between LSAT scores or a pattern of canceled scores, but is not required.

  • Transcripts via LSAC CASRequiredstart by Mar 11, 2027
    Notes & source

Registration for LSAC's Credential Assembly Service (CAS) is required; official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended, regardless of whether a degree was obtained, go directly to LSAC. Applicants with undergraduate or graduate degrees from foreign institutions must have transcripts evaluated by World Education Services (WES) or another NACES-member evaluation service, with the evaluation sent to the admissions office. Admitted students must have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution prior to enrolling (per the admissions FAQ, colorado.edu/law/admissions/faq, which also states appropriately accredited online degrees qualify); enrolling students must submit final transcripts with degree conferrals by October 1 of their first fall semester.

  • LSAT or GRERequiredstart by Jan 31, 2027
    Notes & source

LSAT only. The admissions FAQ (colorado.edu/law/admissions/faq) is explicit: 'We do not accept the GRE. All applicants must take the LSAT.' Per the same FAQ: at least one LSAT score must be received by the April 1 deadline (March/April test takers without prior scores may be at a disadvantage because their reports arrive after the deadline); scores are valid for the past five testing years; the committee sees all scores but the school uses the higher score for reporting; there is no minimum score and no formula; LSAT-Flex is accepted; and at least one LSAT writing sample must be included in the CAS report for the application to be complete (first-time takers must submit the electronic writing sample by April 1).

Administrative

  • Application feeRequiredat submission
    Notes & source

$65 application fee (the amount also appears in the school's 2025 ABA Standard 509 report). Neither the apply page nor the admissions FAQ mentions fee waivers — recorded as the pages' silence, not as confirmation that no waiver exists.

    Verified 2026-08-31 · source page

  • InterviewOptionalat submission
    Notes & source

Interviews happen but are not requested by the applicant and are not part of the standard process: 'Do you allow formal interviews with the admissions committee? Each year, the Admissions Committee selects a handful of applicants to interview. This is an internal process, and you will be contacted directly if we want to conduct an interview.' Recorded as required false because no applicant can schedule or is expected to complete one; it is an invitation-only step affecting a small number of files.
